As a Linux DevOps Operations Engineer, you will specialize in Linux/UNIX administration and Configuration Management for supporting applications on Red Hat, CentOS, and Ubuntu. Your core experience should include administration, installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and performance tuning of Linux/UNIX distributions. You will also need significant hands-on experience with cloud computing and provisioning/creating VMs, Compute Cluster, Pool, VIP, and as well as extensive experience in systems configuration, troubleshooting, server support, and solid exposure using source control, Git and Mercurial preferred.

Responsibilities:

    • Provision hypervisors on servers and create clusters.
    • Configure datastores, filesystems, mount volumes.
    • Configure server, cluster and VM networking.
    • Configure and/or update VM settings.
    • Create, modify Open sources configuration management and deployment tool to automate upgrade multi-platform server (Linux and Windows Server).
    • Server/cluster deployments involving complex and/or custom requirements.
    • Testing, validation and deployment of new server hardware, firmware, hypervisor software.
    • Deploy software and firmware updates.
    • Logical decommissioning of clusters and servers.
    • Escalate and communicate as per standard operating procedures.
    • Ability to react to events decisively, effectively, and without prior thought or planning.
    • Focused and concise in verbal and written communications, written communication skills (reporting).
    • Clearly outline and/or explain solutions in email form (to team members and end-users)
    • Technical aptitude to figure things out and learn on the fly and as needed.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral) required.
    • Monitoring, Ticketing, Alert Response, Troubleshooting, Performance and Analysis, Break/Fix:
    • Monitor infrastructure using client s monitoring systems.
    • Monitor ticketing queue, work tickets to resolution.
    • Create trouble tickets when not generated by automation, and work tickets to resolution.
    • Work change tickets and execute during change windows.
    • Coordinate hardware break/fix activities with local staff - DC Techs, Field IT, and/or Smart Hands where applicable.
    • Create vendor service request (SR) and collect diagnostic information as needed.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve issues escalated by other teams.
    • Escalate to client s engineering team and/or Vendor if required.
    • Identify repeat issues / trends, resolve using automation or process based solutions.
    • Perform performance analysis of overall server virtualization environment.
    • Documentation:
    • Work with client’s teams to maintain documentation and update as needed and perform monthly audits to verifying documentation is current.
    • Vendor Service Request lifecycle management:
    • Daily follow-ups for all open service requests, work with vendors to resolve service requests.
    • Provide a weekly summary of all active (opened/ongoing/closed) Service Requests for the period.
    • Participate in weekly on-call rotation:
    • Respond to critical alerts and alarms outside regular office hours for triage and resolve issues.
    • Escalate to client s engineering or other teams per client s escalation processes.

Qualifications:

    • 2+ years of extensive experience and specialized in Linux/UNIX
    • Familiar with CI/CD development, Linux, UNIX, Systems Upgrades, Patches, Daily Operations, CentOS, Ubuntu, Kickstart, Configuration Management tools (Terraform or Chef or Puppet.)
    • Programming experience with scripting (Bash or Python or Ruby, etc.), Git, Mercurial. At least one high-level language preferred.
