The Senior Consultant, Migration Lead plays a critical role in delivering large-scale IT transformation projects for AHEAD clients. This role focuses on data center migration, consolidation, and exit strategies, cloud transformation of server, storage, virtualization, and database platforms, as well as application modernization and resiliency planning.
The consultant will leverage AHEAD Migration Methodology and Platform for data aggregation, analysis, planning, orchestration, and automation to ensure efficient, low-risk transformation outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Migration Leadership
- Maintain expert-level knowledge of the Migration Platform and its use in migration and transformation projects.
- Drive best practices for data ingestion, dependency mapping, and orchestration of runbook-driven transformation events.
- Create and maintain data integration scripts to support repeatable, automated data ingestion and ensure ongoing data quality.
- Develop and maintain detailed runbook workflows within the Migration Platform to orchestrate both technical and business tasks.
- Client & Project Delivery
- Lead discovery, analysis, planning, and execution phases across client engagements.
- Conduct application and infrastructure dependency analysis to establish transformation groups, transformation waves, and cutover strategies.
- Facilitate and lead SME application validation workshops with client teams to capture system, application, and dependency details.
- Collaborate with AHEAD Project Management to ensure adherence to methodology, scope, and quality of delivery services.
- Oversee assigned consultants to ensure consistency, accuracy, and adherence to project timelines.
- Mentor and guide migration consultants and partner delivery resources to build skills and ensure consistent quality across projects.
- Execution
- Lead transformation execution using the Migration Platform, supporting both event-based command centers and sprint-driven migration waves.
- Conduct technical and logistical migration strategy sessions with clients.
- Identify and mitigate project risks through proactive communication and planning.
- Communication
- Lead client-facing sessions, including status meetings, SME workshops, and executive briefings.
- Deliver clear, concise, and actionable reports, dashboards, and presentations using Migration Platform data.
- Drive clarity and alignment across client and AHEAD teams by using data-driven analysis and migration planning outputs
- Engage directly with executive stakeholders, translating technical insights into business-level recommendations and outcomes.
- Thought Leadership
- Act as a thought leader within AHEAD by contributing to the development of methodologies and migration best practices.
- Drive continuous improvement by incorporating lessons learned and innovations into future client delivery.
- Knowledge and Expertise
- Proven experience in data center migrations, cloud transformation, and application modernization.
- Strong understanding of server, storage, networking, and cloud/hybrid environments.
- Experience with application and infrastructure dependency analysis.
- Proficiency with data analysis, validation, cleansing, and mapping for migration projects.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and data management practices.
- Scripting experience (Python, PowerShell, Java, Groovy preferred) for automation and integration.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), container technologies (Kubernetes, OpenShift, Docker), and hybrid deployment architectures.
- Familiarity with FinOps practices and cost optimization strategies in migration and cloud transformation projects.
- Experience with automation frameworks and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation, etc.).
- Awareness of emerging technologies such as AI/ML in migration planning, sustainability practices in IT transformation, and evolving cloud-native architectures.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience serving as a lead migration consultant leveraging TDS TransitionManagerÒ.
- 5+ years of experience delivering consulting services for large-scale transformation projects.
- 8+ years of IT project experience with infrastructure, cloud, and application migration initiatives.
- Experience with discovery platforms such as Device42, ServiceNow Discovery/MID, AWS Migration Evaluator, Microsoft Azure Migrate, Google StratoZone, etc. are also highly preferred.
- Experience with other systems of record such as ServiceNow CMDB, LeanIX, Confluence, Jira, SolarWinds, Datadog, Dynatrace, etc. are also important skills used in the delivery of migration services.
- Understanding of common application architectures and components (database, middleware, web, etc.)
- Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Mathematics, or similar discipline.

The compensation range indicated in this posting reflects the On-Target Earnings (“OTE”) for this role, which includes a base salary and any applicable target bonus amount. This OTE range may vary based on the candidate’s relevant experience, qualifications, and geographic location.
