Sr. Solutions Engineer - VMware

Reporting to the Technical IT Manager, the Sr. Solutions Engineer is responsible for operational procedures and availability for level three projects. This resource will be the main “local expert” for the assigned products and systems within ThinkOn environment. The Solutions Engineer must be capable captured the project needs, designing a feasible solution, and taking the technical lead on the deployment. The role will be recognized as an expert in ThinkOn products, services, practices with the ability to incorporate new technologies. 

You Will:

    • Coordinate and own all issues escalated beyond level 2  
    • Work effectively with cross functional teams, mentoring and providing technical leadership to level 2 team members  
    • Have the ability to discern key aspects of a problem and address them at an early state by determining the best resolution  
    • Effectively communicate to all parties involved   
    • Architecture Design duties to help develop solutions to scale for cloud services provider.   
    • Responsible for VMware based virtual platform and the solutions around it.   
    • Concertation in the areas of ESXi, vCenter & vCloudwith NSX-T  
    • Backup, Replication, AD and Storage.   
    • Servers (ESXi Host) configuration, deployment and management of physical servers and chassis/blades solutions like HPe, Cisco, Lenovo and Dell.   
    • Coordinate and own level 3 projects and implementations pertaining to your assigned products/systems  
    • Produce documentation forsystem deployment, operation and support  
    • Provide complex system problem support, troubleshooting and problem analysis for different hardware and software components within ThinkOn systems  
    • Maintain close interactions with all technical and project related teams within ThinkOn, customers and vendors   
    • System deployment, integration and support activities for PDLC  
    • Provide on call support for production systems  
    • Perform other related duties as assigned  
    • Bethego-toexpertforallThinkOnInfrastructureandservicesinconversationswithEngineering, Architects and Product  
    • Ability to review new technology and build out POC plans for execution  
    • Act as the technical leader to provide guidance and planning for Infrastructure Planning and Implementation Team to roll out new/existing services. 

You Have:

    • Canadian or Permeant Residence status of 10+ years   
    • 5+ years of operational experience with VMware based virtual platforms  
    • 5+ years of operational experience with VMware Sphere (ESXi & vCenter)  
    • 3+ years of operational experience with VMware Cloud Director environments 
    • 2+ years of operational experience with Cloud environments  
    • 2+ years of operational experience with NSX environments  
    • 3+ years blades and chassis administration (HPe, Cisco, Lenovo and/or Dell)  
    • 3+ years of fibre channel based storage administration  
    • Solid understanding of routing and switching concepts and technology  
    • Experience in a 24/7/365, multi-tiered large scale production environment. 
    • VMware Certified Professional 6+ (VCP6 or higher)  
    • Experience implementing and/or maintaining VMware vCloud environment  
    • NSX-T implementation and management for vCloud environment   

Nice to Have:

    • VMware Tanzu and Kubernetes experience would be considered an asset  
    • Experience working with Hyperflex or HCI PIVOT3  
    • Experience in migrating NSX-V to NSX-T on vCloud environment   
    • Experience with IP Networking, routing, and switching  
    • SOC or ISO audit/control experience (pertaining to environment security)  
    • Experience with implementation and/or design of Veeam, Zerto, or CommVault
