Who we are:

Thistle was founded in 2013 with a mission to make it easy to get and stay healthy while improving the sustainability of our food system. We deliver delicious, ready-to-eat plant-forward meals, snacks, and cold press juices to our customers’ doorsteps to empower our customers to improve personal and planetary health by eating more plants. To date we’ve delivered over 20 million nourishing meals to customers across the West and East Coast and we’re just getting started! The San Francisco Business Times named us one of the Top 100 Fastest Growing Private Companies in the Bay Area in 2023, and Inc. awarded us Best in Business in 2022 among companies that “go above and beyond” in both food and sustainability sectors.

About the Role:

Reporting to the Director, Engineering, we’re looking for an IT Admin to help support both our remote workers and our various facilities. Currently this responsibility is spread across multiple outside vendors, with some assistance from the Engineering team. We’d like to transition those responsibilities to a new IT Admin.

This role is a hybrid role - remote first, but with on-site work expected weekly in either our Vacaville, CA, or Burlington, NJ, production facility.

Our technologies:

The bulk of our support requests involve the following: Mac and Windows laptops, iPads, Google Workspace, Slack, Zoom, Dropbox. While we do have some Windows laptops, we are moving away from them as possible and are not an Active Directory shop. We do also use VPNs in specific cases, but maintaining an intranet across all facilities is not currently planned.

What you'll do:

    • Manage our fleet of laptops and tablets. This would include buying, setting up new employees, and troubleshooting; repair is generally expected to be outsourced. Putting some kind of UEM in place to help improve security/compliance is also included.
    • Manage many of our software accounts, such as Slack, Zoom, and Google Workspace. The IT Admin would be primarily responsible for onboarding/offboarding accounts, with periodic configuration duties.
    • Assist employees with technical issues. Somewhat covered in the above two points, the IT Admin would be the first point of contact if someone is having difficulty with their computer or trying to achieve their goal with one of our 3rd party accounts.
    • Assist with on-premise technical duties. Examples here could include setting up a new printer, debugging wireless issues, or installing security cameras.
    • Ensure our facilities have Wi-Fi access throughout.
    • Propose and deliver new technical solutions. For example, a phone tree that would meet the needs of various stakeholders.
    • Oversee any work contracted out to a 3rd party vendor. We still expect to need 3rd party IT vendors from time to time, and the IT Admin would be the point of contact for that relationship.
    • Help increase our documentation and improve our processes to better support our employees in solving their problems themselves.
    • Be on site at either our Vacaville, CA or Burlington, NJ facility every week.
    • Be able to travel on a limited basis - probably 1-2 times a year.

What you'll bring:

    • Strong hands-on experience as an IT Administrator or technician
    • Ability to be onsite at least once per week and as needed; ability to travel to out-of-state Thistle facilities once or twice per year or as necessary
    • Outstanding coaching and training skills focused on a customer-oriented approach
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Strong problem-solving skills, able to troubleshoot issues you’ve never seen before
    • Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking skills with the ability to prioritize multiple projects, tasks, and responsibilities
$75,000 - $95,000 a year
The salary range for this role is $75k - $95k and represents the company's good faith minimum and maximum range at the time of the posting. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and location.
