We are looking for an Account Executive (AE) who has impeccable relationship-building skills, is a problem solver not afraid to think outside the box, and is customer-centric in everything they do.  In the role, they will create leads and close sales using strong discovery and value selling skills. They are responsible for territory management and a pipeline of sales opportunities within the Civic vertical, including supporting post-sale onboarding.  The ideal candidate can navigate complex procurement processes and bureaucratic structures to meet their quota. Through extensive collaboration with internal teams, they help develop territory plans, lead generation strategies and customer champions. This highly motivated and proactive individual also keeps abreast of Civic events and researches sales competition to stay current on customer trends.

What You’ll Do:

    • Create, lead and close new sales opportunities to achieve assigned quota using strong discovery and value selling skills
    • Build and maintain a pipeline of sales opportunities within an assigned territory; maintain accurate forecast and be able to identify where each opportunity is in the sales cycle
    • Collaborate with Business Development Representative in assigned territory to develop and execute territory planning and lead generation strategy
    • Manage and negotiate deals with clients and navigate procurement processes, taking ownership of the sales cycle from start to finish 
    • Keep abreast of Civic events within the territory and develop proposals, presentations and overall event strategy in collaboration with Marketing
    • Represent ThoughtExchange at virtual and in-person public events by networking, facilitating presentations and leading discussions
    • Act as a strategic and trusted advisor by building excellent relationships with senior leadership, School Board Superintendents and end-users within assigned portfolio
    • Lead customer calls by maintaining a strong, confident and articulate presence
    • Manage and navigate complex/bureaucratic organizational structures in order to identify decision-makers and close deals
    • Collaborate closely with Business Development, Account Management, and Customer Success teams to identify & develop customer champions 
    • Research sales competition and keep current on topics within the industry and maintain subject matter expertise in relation to technology and buyer personas
    • Proactively identify barriers and address objections in the sales process by leveraging internal best practices 
    • Extract table stakes, partnership goals, and measures of success during pre-sale discovery and effectively communicate this to the onboarding team through notes, internal meetings, and ongoing support for 90-day post-sale period
    • Stay up to date on product knowledge, new releases, and our product roadmap
    • Maintain updated CRM documentation in Salesforce throughout the sales process
    • Support ThoughtExchange’s Anti-Racism and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (ADEI) mandate by (at a minimum) being aware of our ADEI commitment and initiatives and completing all required ADEI training

What We Think Is True About You:

    • 2+ years of full-cycle sales experience, preferably in the software industry (SaaS) and/or working with K12 Education or Public customers
    • Experience with communicating and engaging with leaders to understand and analyze business objectives
    • Possess peer leadership abilities and has experience collaborating with other teams 
    • Self-directed and self-motivated to reach targets and quotas
    • Strong presentation and facilitation skills
    • Proven success in targeted outbound prospecting and pipeline building
    • Excited by the ability to travel and meet clients face-to-face (8-10 times per year)
    • Foundational knowledge of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) Software (ideally Salesforce)
    • Working proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or Google Suite
The base hiring range for this role is $73,500 - $81,750 CAD ($147,000 -163,500 CAD On-Target Earnings). Your specific compensation within this range is determined based on your job-related skills, knowledge, experience, and our internal equity assessment.
