About the role

At thredUP, we are processing unique secondhand clothing at unparalleled volumes and looking for an experienced Industrial Engineer to support our rapidly growing operation. As part of our Industrial Engineering team, you will work cross-functionally to implement new processes and continuously improve existing ones. This position requires a strong background in program management with proven abilities to plan, organize, implement, and manage capital and process improvement projects ensuring safe, economical, and effective use of materials, energy, and people. The position will be based out of our Duluth, Georgia distribution center with occasional travel to our California offices and distribution centers located around the US.


    • Manage the design and implementation of capacity upgrades to existing distribution centers
    • Plan and design systems and processes that will enable thredUP’s Operations department to meet or exceed company business objectives
    • Assess and optimize the processes and equipment used in thredUP’s distribution centers to improve operational efficiencies and customer quality
    • Recommend and implement changes to training standards, safety procedures, work methods, and workcell designs
    • Manage projects and tests from conception to implementation
    • Perform detailed analysis or cost justification and support recommendations with data
    • Conduct and lead project meetings with senior management
    • Research and implement new technologies to enhance existing processes
    • Design facilities layouts, workspace, equipment, and fixtures using AutoCAD and Solidworks
    • Typical responsibilities could include managing additional capacity growth within our distribution centers, identifying and developing a solution for the largest area of opportunity in a distribution center, leading a redesign effort for a particular process element, designing a quick solution for a short term need


    • Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or similar Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
    • 3-5 years of hands-on experience in either a distribution center or manufacturing facility
    • Experience managing large capital projects 
    • Strong ability to work with and influence all levels of associates and managers
    • Demonstrated use of analytical skills and engineering methodology to solve difficult problems
    • Comfortable with Microsoft Office products (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and learning new databases
    • Experience with AutoCAD, Solidworks, and SQL
    • Ability to balance multiple projects and work quickly with minimal supervision
    • Available for up to 25% travel
