User Experience Designer (Remote)

The Thuma team is looking for a User Experience Designer to join our fast-growing remote eCommerce team. In this role you will lead design-centric projects from conception to delivery. We hire for integrity, initiative, collaborative spirit, open mindedness, and willingness to learn. 

The ideal candidate has a background in site content design through the lens of a luxury aesthetic. This is a cross-functional role working closely with the engineering, branding, and marketing teams. You will be responsible for designing the framework  in which our site content will be existing as we migrate to a headless commerce solution.

While Thuma is based in San Francisco, our team is spread across the country. This role is flexible and can be San Francisco-based or fully remote.

Key Responsibilities:

    • Assess existing sites/properties for usefulness, usability, visual design, content, branding, and best practices
    • Identify and document meaningful patterns from user research and UX audit findings
    • Contributes to estimation, project planning, practice development and new business pitches
    • Deliver designs on-time for sprint cycles continuously, while constantly raising the quality bar
    • Creates and maintains the design system of Thuma and reviews the Engineering team’s implementation of the design system
    • Lead design-centric projects hands-on from beginning to end; through internal + exec reviews, and internal testing
    • Learn, relearn, and share best practices with peers and stakeholders
    • Conduct market research and ensure adherence to best-in-class methodologies, and brand consistency standards
    • Continuously improve designs based on user feedback and validation; rework your deliverables accordingly
    • Craft variations of features to be used in A/B tests and use the data from those tests to make website improvement, with the goal of driving user engagement and growth

This Might Describe You:

    • 3+ years of experience in designing content for eCommerce websites
    • Your portfolio showcases a variety of design aesthetics and formats
    • Expert in Figma or equivalent UX design tools
    • You have working knowledge of  Adobe Creative Cloud, Illustrator, and Photoshop. 
    • Ability to understand CSS, Javascript, HTML, SASS a plus 
    • Familiarity with reviewing web components using Storybook 
    • You’re creative, detail-oriented, and have great design taste. You have the ability to manage multiple products and adapt well to change and unexpected updates in a high-paced environment
    • An ability to work within established brand identity systems, style guides, and shared design projects
    • Flexible and willing to work on cross functional marketing and design projects
    • You thrive in a collaborative environment and are able to work with creative and non-creative partners and stakeholders
    • You are comfortable with ambiguity and autonomy. You don’t always wait to be told what to do; you proactively look for ways to add value that the broader team can feel
    • You’re a team player and come to each new project with enthusiasm and a willingness to learn
