The role
To support the discretionary investment team in the management and administration of client portfolios, while developing practical investment knowledge and progressing towards managing responsibilities. This is an entry-level training position designed to provide a broad foundation in discretionary investment operations.
The company offers a hybrid home and office based working model, with the preference for the successful candidate to be in the Harrogate office at least 4 days per week. Travel maybe required to the Peterborough and London offices when needed.
Responsibilities
- Assist in monitoring discretionary client portfolios, ensuring investments remain aligned with mandates and suitability parameters.
- Support the placing and booking of trades across equities, funds, fixed income and alternative assets under the supervision of senior team members.
- Assist in preparing performance, valuation and compliance reports for client meetings and internal reviews, where required.
- Handle day-to-day client instructions, liaise with operations teams for settlement, corporate actions, and cash management.
- Support desk-wide initiatives such as model portfolio reviews, investment committee preparations, or platform migration tasks.
- Ensure all work adheres to internal compliance procedures and FCA regulatory requirements, including treating customers fairly and client confidentiality.
Requirements
- Be willing to work towards CISI Level 4 Investment Advice Diploma (IAD) or equivalent.
- Be willing to undertake rotational shadowing across investment operations, compliance and dealing to build well-rounded knowledge.
- Experience within a Wealth Management firm with a good understanding of investments would be advantageous,
- A professional and personable communicator who is comfortable dealing with colleagues at varying levels.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills.
- Have strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Be adept at building relationships.
- Ability to work autonomously.
- Experience of working in fast paced environment.
