We are seeking a Professional Engineer - Civil to join our team! Our Northwest division creates inclusive, sustainable, and welcoming facilities and transportation infrastructure to support engagement with our communities and elevate our quality of living. We accomplish this through our local experience, nationwide expertise, and integrated team.

As a member of our team, you will work alongside other Civil, Architectural, Electrical, Mechanical, and Structural professionals to provide civil design of multi-discipline projects. You will have the opportunity to be a Project Manager responsible for all technical, quality, and financial aspects, from conception through construction.
 
For this opportunity we are seeking an experienced professional who resides within a regular commuting distance of our downtown Seattle office and who has the ability to travel occasionally as requested.

Hybrid Work Environment: 3 days in office / 2 days WFH per week

Responsibilities

    • Lead preliminary and final site design for public and private projects.
    • Manage grading, roadway/transportation access, utility infrastructure, stormwater management systems, and facility design.
    • Oversee all technical, quality, and financial aspects of projects from conception through construction.
    • Work alongside Civil, Architectural, Electrical, Mechanical, and Structural professionals on multi-discipline projects.
    • Coordinate with team members to ensure integrated and cohesive project delivery.
    • Engage with clients to understand their needs and provide tailored solutions.
    • Maintain strong client relationships through effective communication and project delivery.
    • Share knowledge and professional experiences to mentor and develop less experienced team members.
    • Provide guidance and support to junior engineers and other team members.
    • Act as Project Manager for assigned projects, ensuring timely and successful completion.
    • Handle project scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation.
    • Maintain communication with clients and stakeholders to ensure project requirements are met.
    • Ensure all designs and projects comply with relevant codes, standards, and regulations.
    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and best practices.

Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
    • Professional Engineer in the State of Washington.
    • Minimum of 5 years of technical design experience with site development projects including site layouts, site grading, roadway design, utility design, vehicular and/or pedestrian access, stormwater management, and site permitting.
    • Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D used to develop construction plans, grading plans, and site designs.
    • Progressive and successful experience managing projects; strong working knowledge of the project development process including coordination with other disciplines during design and construction.
    • Ability to apply effective written and verbal communication and presentation skills when developing proposals, negotiating project contracts, preparing technical reports, leading project team meetings, and delivering client presentations.
    • Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and develop less experienced professionals with an emphasis on technical design standards, quality control, and/or project management practices.
    • Provide and lead Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QAQC) reviews for civil projects.
    • Experience working with regulatory agencies, and knowledge of the permit application process with FEMA, DOT, DNR, and state / local government entities.
    • Flexibility for limited overnight travel to conduct on-site consultations, participate in project meetings, or attend business development and industry events.
    • Must possess a valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

    • Active professional registration or the ability to obtain registration in additional states with a preference of Oregon and California.
$45 - $55 an hour
Upon acceptance of a conditional offer of employment, the selected candidate will be required to complete a standard pre-employment background screening, which consists of Social Security verification, educational verification, review of criminal convictions, and driving history.
