We are hiring a Planner to join our Planning & Traffic team! You will tackle meaningful projects, collaborate with industry experts, and find ample opportunities for professional growth and development.
You will support a mix of planning services related to land use and transportation, mentor graduate planners, and collaborate with expert professionals on a variety of small to large-scale projects. Job Responsibilities
- Note: Our team has openings for both land use-focused and transportation-focused planning positions. We collaborate with both specialties and are seeking candidates with either or both backgrounds.
- Review and coordinate planning and zoning applications (e.g., subdivisions, conditional use permits, variances)
- Provide public guidance on development regulations and application procedures
- Address planning and zoning concerns from citizens and clients
- Collect data, prepare GIS maps, and conduct analyses for reports and plans
- Lead and coordinate comprehensive and specialized planning projects
- Develop and update zoning ordinances and address community needs through better planning initiatives
- Participate in and lead city, township, and agency meetings
- Present staff reports and policy proposals at public meetings
- Design and develop transportation projects (e.g., corridor studies, schematic designs)
- Oversee project management, coordination, and monitoring
- Communicate effectively in technical reports and presentations for diverse audiences
- Facilitate community engagement through meetings, workshops, and forums
- Create marketing materials and graphics for clients
- Build client relationships and promote planning services
- Attend project-related events in the Twin Cities metro and adapt to occasional travel needs

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in transportation planning, urban planning, civil engineering, landscape architecture or a related field
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant planning experience
- Experience managing tasksat varying phases within multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and in coordination with other disciplines
- Experience facilitating public engagement sessions using a variety of methods to capture feedback
- Knowledge of planning principles applied to zoning matters
- Proficiency with graphics and illustrations, a working knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite
- Possession of a valid Driver’s License
Preferred Qualifications
- AICP certification
- 2 years prior project management experience (i.e. designing and implementing complex projects or initiatives from beginning to completion.)
- In-depth understanding of data management and ArcGIS
- Prior experience with Adobe Create Suite
- Prior experience preparing and submitting funding solicitation applications
- Prior experience developing conceptual project graphics
$73,725 - $97,000 a year
The listed salary range reflects base pay for candidates with 4-10 years of related experience. Compensation may vary based on experience, qualifications, and responsibilities.
