Full-time /

Job Summary:

As General Manager, Health & Life Sciences (HLS) Staffing, you will lead the development and execution of a new, high-impact business line at Toptal focused on delivering specialized talent to organizations across the HLS ecosystem. Drawing on your commercial and entrepreneurial experience, you will build the HLS industry staffing business from the ground up. This role complements Toptal’s position as the world’s largest fully remote workforce by expanding into a high-value industry staffing offering, giving clients broader access to skilled talent. Key responsibilities include developing a clear business plan, identifying critical investments based on Toptal’s current assets, and analyzing market demand, positioning, and the competitive landscape. You will begin by selecting one or two industry functions to pilot, establish product-market fit, and then scale toward profitability and operational efficiency.

This is a remote position. However, we require applicants and the person in this position to reside in-market. Applicants must be authorized to work in the US at the time of hire. Resumes and communication must be submitted in English.

Responsibilities:

The following information is intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed. It is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties, responsibilities, or required skills.

Your primary responsibility will be to lead the strategy and execution of the HLS Staffing business line, with success measured by revenue growth, pipeline strength, and gross margin performance. As the single accountable owner of the business P&L, you will be responsible for balancing top-line growth with operational efficiency by optimizing both supply and demand. You’ll collaborate closely with Toptal’s Executive and Senior Leadership teams to ensure alignment with the company’s broader growth objectives.
As you shape your business strategy, you’ll analyze market and industry trends to identify the highest-potential opportunities. Taking an agile approach, you will build and test new offerings with clients, using early feedback to accelerate product-market fit. In partnership with Marketing and Talent Operations, you will drive the development of an execution plan to ensure the right talent and solutions are in place to meet client demand.

Success in this role requires your ability to work directly with clients as a trusted advisor, while also navigating internal cross-functional partnerships with teams such as Marketing, Legal, Finance, and Sales. You will establish strong analytics and feedback mechanisms to continuously refine your strategy and ensure ongoing improvement.

This high-impact, high-visibility role calls for a leader with exceptional communication skills, an entrepreneurial “doer” mindset, and a sharp eye for reimagining outdated operating models. You’ll need to assess what’s working, identify what needs to evolve, and chart a path forward that drives innovation and relevance in the staffing space. If you’re passionate about building new ventures and transforming them into meaningful revenue streams, we invite you to join us and help shape the future of Toptal.
