Position Summary:

The Maintenance Technician will take ownership of maintenance and repair tasks at the facility level and with equipment. This person will be a reliable, self-motivated, problem-solving mechanic driven to provide quality repairs. This role is perfect for you if you thrive in a fast-paced environment and want to make your mark in a growing food manufacturing company. 

The schedule for this position will be Tuesday through Saturday 6:00 am - 3:00 pm with regular overtime of about 5 hours per week. For initial training (approximately the first 90 days), the schedule will be Monday through Friday 6:00 am - 3:00 pm. 

This position reports to the Maintenance Manager.

How you'll spend your time at Tovala

    • Completing maintenance and repair tasks from building maintenance to fixing specific machines.
    • Executing portions of a preventative maintenance calendar/schedule to ensure reliable operation of facilities and equipment as well as compliance with regulatory requirements
    • Maintaining documentation of completed equipment maintenance and repairs
    • Training machine operators and staff managers on proper equipment usage
    • Maintaining a well-equipped and capable Maintenance Shop that can respond quickly to that facility's equipment issues
    • Participating in the evaluation of new equipment purchases, installation of equipment, and run-in of new equipment to make it part of normal operations

Competencies & Requirements

    • 3 + years of maintenance experience preferred
    • Must have experience working in food manufacturing
    • Familiar with electrical
    • Experience with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System)
    • Basic understanding of PLC
    • Experience with SOP’s and safety
    • Experience completing work within industrial HVAC/R systems and certification a plus
    • Comfortable with a wide range of tools, machines, and equipment
    • Always curious to understand how things work
    • You’re a forward-thinking mechanic - you know how to fix a problem so that it doesn’t occur again
    • You genuinely care for the machines and equipment you work with and want to teach others how to best care for this equipment
    • You are a problem solver, you can tackle unfamiliar tasks with resourcefulness and minimal guidance

    • Physical Demands
    • Comfortable standing, bending, and lifting up to 8 hours per day. 
    • Able to lift up to 50 pounds
    • Comfortable working in hot and cold environments

    • Work Environment
    • Manufacturing plant environment– can include working outside in all weather conditions, working in confined spaces and poorly lighted areas, walking on uneven, slippery surfaces, and encountering forklift traffic. Hot and cold environments.
