We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join us at Traction Guest! We are looking for an experienced engineer who wants to create products and solutions, for a broad range of customers, large and small.  Someone who is eager to work collaboratively with the team, sharing their knowledge and experience as well as learning from their peers. 

The ideal candidate has a background in building commercial SaaS solutions, at scale on public cloud, for enterprise customers. Someone who is interested in building products that are secure, respect data privacy and are reliable, operable and maintainable.

This is a full time remote role, that can be based anywhere in Canada or in the US, preferably the west coast

    • At least 5+ years’ combined experience with Ruby on Rails and one or more of Kotlin, Go or Java for backend services
    • Solid understanding of object-oriented programming, SQL principles, MVC, and REST
    • Understanding of fundamental design principles behind a scalable application
    • Experience delivering commercial enterprise-class SaaS products, through public cloud offerings
    • Basic understanding of front-end technologies, such as JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3
    • Familiarity with API documentation standards, such as Swagger and OpenAPI
    • Ability to integrate multiple data sources and databases into one system
    • Able to create database schemas that represent and support business processes
    • Proficiency with Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) solutions
    • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills
    • Ability to drive and manage technical and architectural dependencies
    • Ability to collaborate across team/org boundaries to deliver end to end scenario
    • Ability to evaluate and ramp up quickly on new technologies
    • Good judgment in making critical engineering decisions in a fast paced, agile environment

    • Preferred Qualifications
    • BS or higher degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field
    • Demonstrated solid working knowledge on cloud computing / Azure / AWS
    • Familiar with Agile/Scrum/Lean Methodology
    • Experience with the Spring framework

What You Will Be Doing

    • Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable Ruby code
    • Integration of data storage solutionsIntegration of user-facing elements developed by front-end developers with server side logic
    • Identify bottlenecks and bugs, and devise solutions to these problems
    • Help maintain code quality, organization and automatization
    • Design integrations between our core product and a number of third party applications
    • Develop and mentor junior members of the engineering team
    • Promote practices that ensure high-quality, scalability, stability, and performance
