Trader Corporation is the team behind Canada’s leading automotive marketplace, AutoTrader.ca. We are a technology-driven company that creates world-class solutions for our users and dealer customers. We are expanding and need a Senior Oracle Database Engineer to join our team.
 
Required Skills:
- 6 to 8 years of hands-on experience in Oracle Standalone/RAC Database Administration (10g to 19c)
- Must be well versed in Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM), configuration, and administration.
- Must have hands-on experience in Oracle Database Appliance (ODA), administration, and patching.
- Must have good knowledge and working experience in Oracle Data Guard.
- Must have good knowledge and working experience in Oracle Recovery Manager (RMAN).
- Must have good knowledge and working experience in Golden Gate.
- Must have experience in configuration and administration of Oracle multitenancy.
- Must have working knowledge of AWS cloud technologies (AWS RDS); able to install, configure, and administer database servers on AWS cloud platforms.
- Must have working experience with Linux Operating Systems (Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), Red Hat Fedora, Ubuntu, Debian, etc.).

Roles and Responsibilities:
- All items below also pertain to an AWS Cloud Environment.
- Database performance monitoring and tuning: Monitor performance, identify problems, identify possible solutions, provide recommendations, and implement approved solutions. Identify and provide recommendations to improve and automate monitoring and tuning capabilities.
- Participate in the Root Cause Analysis (RCA) process when an incident occurs.
- Database backup and recovery: Ensure that data is backed up and recovery time objectives are established and met. Implement backup strategies, verify backups, and participate in database recoveries.
- Disaster recovery: Identify disaster recovery options and recommendations (in AWS Cloud).
- High Availability: Identify high availability options and recommendations (in AWS Cloud).
- Documentation: Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for the operation and maintenance of the databases (includes but not limited to recovery procedures from backups and catastrophic events, etc.). Prepare current state detailed diagrams and documentation.
- Install, upgrade, and patch ORACLE (10g to 19c) on various environments.
- Provide innovative and efficient solutions to maximize productivity and improve performance.
 
Required Experience:
- University Degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science or related subject.
- 6+ years of hands-on experience in Oracle Standalone/RAC Database Administration (10g to 19c)
