The Sr. Director, Software Engineering will be part of the Trader’s Engineering organization that runs technology strategy, innovation, product development, engineering, and operations for Trader Corporation. Trader has a rich leading portfolio of digital mobile products and other software solutions for car dealerships. This role will lead Product Development teams working closely with other Engineering teams and Trader’s business and product management teams. You are expected to drive people, process and technology transformation driving agility, quality, predictability, and innovation to help the company establish and retain its leadership position. Will lead teams by balancing agility with discipline to deliver quality solutions to meet business needs and its customers’ needs. Will deliver results by collaborating with multiple stakeholders including Product Management, Information Technology, Sales Operations, Sales, the Executive Team, and external business partners. Most importantly, will create an inspiring environment where people can grow both their technical and leadership skills.
 
What you’ll do…
Strategy
•Transform company vision & strategy into tactical development plans and technology operations
•Lead the company technology platforms development spanning mobile, data & AI, integration and Cloud stacks.
•Stay abreast of advances in technology and adopt technology to provide a competitive advantage to the business.
•Lead, deploy and share standards and best practices in the areas of project planning, project management, quality management, application lifecycle management, SDLC process, and tools across the organization.
•Participate in strategy sessions with leadership to prioritize efforts.
 
Operations
•Build exceptionally strong relationships with internal stakeholders to identify & support technology needs.
•Collaboratively work with multi-functional teams, including Product, user experience, and Service Delivery operations to understand their needs and how to best support them.
•Leverage new technologies especially data & AI to enhance our capabilities to detect and resolve customer incidents
•Execute vendor selections/relationships and contract negotiations where relevant; establish standards for performance. Ensure maximum returns on investments.
 
Leadership
•Build and retain a high-performance development team by recruiting, supervising, training, and retaining all development staff in accordance with the company policies and budget requirements.
•Lead, mentor, and coach the development team in the adoption and use of best practices such as Agile development, containers, and design patterns.
•Establish standards of performance and monitor employee development.
 
Compliance
•Participate in the creation of an enterprise-wide information security plan that protects the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the company’s proprietary and user information.
•Participate in the development of efficient internal change control processes and configuration management.
 
What you bring to the table…
•Bachelors or Masters degree in IT, Engineering, Computer, Data Science or related fields is required
•Minimum of 10 years experience in hands-on development with a strong technical background with direct hands-on experience in the design and development of Cloud-based software
•Strong knowledge of software development methodologies, including design, implementation, testing, and release in an agile strategic team environment.
•Proven analytical capabilities to break down complex technical tasks into executable and measurable steps to deliver predictable results.
•Experience working on large, complex projects and technology stacks.
•Excellent communication skills, independent and proven creative thinking.
•Proven ability to recruit, motivate, and mentor top talent
•Ability to establish and articulate a vision, set goals, develop and execute strategies, and track results
•Strong team leadership and management skills – the ability to plan and organize resources, gain internal alignment, and create a “one team” approach to operating.
