Reporting to the Financial Accounting Manager, the Accountant is responsible for assisting with the monthly and yearly close procedures including preparing and recording journal entries and accruals. The Accountant also reconciles general ledger accounts and ensures financial records are complete and accurate. 

What you will be doing:

    • Support month-end and year end close process including preparing and recording journal entries and accruals to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
    • Analyze monthly financials and prepare variance analysis.
    • Document and maintain complete and accurate supporting information for all financial transactions.
    • Reconcile and maintain balance sheet accounts with relevant supporting schedules.
    • Prepare audit working papers for the external review.
    • Analyze and report actuals vs budget information for special projects.
    • Participate in the accounting system month-end close process.
    • Contribute to improve financial process and internal control.
    • Maintaining effective internal controls.
    • Perform ad-hoc analysis and other duties as required

What you bring:

    • A minimum of two years related experience in an Accountant role
    • Current enrollment in the CPA Program or working towards a CPA (CA, CGA) Designation
    • Good working knowledge of ASPE or IFRS
    • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, with an emphasis on proficiency in Excel
    • Excellent communication skills, both spoken and written
    • Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset
    • Able to maintain keen attention to detail in a high-volume work environment
    • Experience with ERP implementation is an asset
    • Knowledge in GST/PST and other regulatory submission.
    • Able to think-outside-the-box to improve processes
    • Experience in a retail environment is an asset
    • Flexible to work additional time where necessary to meet deadlines
