Trans Lifeline needs your help!
Trans Lifeline is a grassroots non-profit organization offering direct emotional and financial support to trans people in crisis - for the trans community, by the trans community.
Our communications department makes sure that trans stories are told by trans people, and that the people who need our resources can easily find and access them. Communications staff and volunteers work closely with our Hotline and Microgrants programs and Development departments. We make sure that our program needs, fundraising efforts, and resources are shared with our community in a culturally competent and supportive way.
We strive to ensure our communications across all platforms make trans people feel seen and cared for by other trans people. Our communications are a direct service, and we use them to resource & connect our community. We provide communications volunteers with media training, opportunities to be published and featured in the media, and supportive professional development.
We are searching for social media volunteers who wish to gain professional experience in social justice movement communications or wish to support our work with professional skills in copywriting and graphics creation. Volunteers are expected to help produce 2 drafts a week(1 draft of post copy and 1 image). Commitment to this role is for a minimum of 3 months.
Requirements
-Be over 18.
-Have access to the internet - all our training and ongoing communication between our staff and you will be online.
-Trans and anti-racist cultural competency.
-Copywriting skills.
-Competency in creative applications like Canva and Adobe Creative Cloud.
-Understand social media trends and posting specifications.
-Must commit to finishing the assigned project within the agreed timeline.
-After project completion, there will be a check-in with TL staff with a possible option to continue with a new project.
Training
-Ongoing mentorship under experienced staff.
-Ongoing supervision and editing support.
This is an unpaid, work from home volunteer position for people in the US. All training and interviews will be conducted over phone or video chat.
