Summit Bodyworks, a premier builder of tool trucks, mobile libraries, and other specialty vehicles has an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Woodshop Manager. Every truck we build is customized from the chassis up; we build our vehicles to suit the needs and desires of our diverse customer base, from fortune 100 companies to independent owner operators. As an integral manufacturing department, the woodshop provides custom cabinetry, wall systems, and storage solutions for hundreds of our world class vehicles per year. As the Woodshop Manager you will oversee all aspects of production, inventory, scheduling and will report directly to the Director of Operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Actively participate and lead a dedicated team
    • Work closely with production management to ensure that production schedule and product quality requirements are met.
    • Proactively work with fellow team members to further optimize assembly processes 
    • Learn all aspects of the assembly process while assisting with the development of standard operating procedures and training. 
    • Implement “Lean” best practices to drive higher product quality, shorten build cycle times, and reduce internal costs
    • Perform functions and duties of the job that may require additional or different tasks to be performed when circumstances change (i.e., emergencies, changes in personnel, workload, rush jobs or technology developments
    • Identify team goals and evaluate team progress
    • Develop team strengths and coach team member towards continuous improvement
    • Organize team initiatives
    • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
    • Other duties as assigned by Director of Operations

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

    • Requires frequent sitting, standing, balancing, bending or stooping for prolonged periods of time.
    • Manual dexterity, fine manipulation, and the ability to reach with hands and arms and lift up to 75 lbs.
    • Must be able to operate simple to complex and heavy-duty machinery.
    • Normal range of hearing and vision.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

    • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
    • Must be able to read and interpret internal documentation and drawings
    • Must have a valid Driver’s License with a good motor vehicle record.
    • Must have proven woodshop experience (4+ years).
    • Knowledge of hardwoods and wood products is required.
    • Custom cabinetry construction experience is a must.
    • Candidates must be a motivated individual who can work independently.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Ability to successfully complete a General Abilities Assessment and Post-offer background check, physical and drug screening.

    • Experience with laminate
    • Supervisory Experience
    • Experience with CNC operation

    • Compensation Range: $70,000 to $80,000
