At Toyota Research Institute (TRI), we’re on a mission to improve the quality of human life. We’re developing new tools and capabilities to amplify the human experience. To lead this transformative shift in mobility, we’ve built a world-class team in Robotics, Human-Centered AI, Human Interactive Driving, and Energy & Materials.

Within TRI, the Future Product Innovation team seeks to reinvent how products are brought to market in large organizations. To do this, we explore (1) new ways of understanding what consumers want, (2) the psychological process of ideation and new affordances for interventions through GenAI, and (3) new ways of bringing the perspectives of different collaborators from design to engineering to strategy together through AI mediated tools. We demonstrate advances in machine learning, physiological sensing, and human-computer interaction to support human decision-making.

The Future Product Innovation team is looking for a Research Scientist interested in the intersection of generative AI and engineering design.
