Water Resources Engineer II

About the Role
Reporting to the Water Resources Engineering Lead, the Water Resources Engineer II is responsible for applying conceptual, analytical, and numerical models to evaluate water resources to support water management, permitting, and environmental assessment in the mining and industrial sectors. 

Key Responsibilities

    • Develop conceptual, analytical, and numerical models of water resources systems to evaluate hydrology, hydraulics, water balance, and water quality (HEC‑HMS, HEC‑RAS, SWMM, DELFT3D and GoldSim).
    • Build mine water balance models to assess operations, treatment requirements, closure, and long-term care and maintenance scenarios.
    • Data analysis skills, coding and scripting (e.g., PYTHON, R, FORTAN, etc.) and GIS.
    • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop new water resources and water quality models and update existing models.
    • Prepare and deliver detailed design documents, specifications, drawings, calculations, and technical reports.
    • Provide technical input to projects within your area(s) of expertise.
    • Technical communications, including report writing and reviewing.
    • Ensure projects meet local, provincial, and federal regulatory standards and navigating permitting and environmental compliance
    • Develop and coordinate project specific work plans and assist in proposal development.
    • Interface with other technical experts to achieve multidisciplinary project goals.
    • Interact and liaise with clients and assessors/government regulators.
    • Manage special projects that support the broad-based needs of a rapidly expanding company.
    • All other related duties as required.

About You

    • Master’s degree in engineering or other related science (PhD is considered an asset).
    • 5+ years relevant experience with demonstrated success in water resources related services.
    • Demonstrated experience managing large datasets, analyzing and interpreting water resources related data, interpreting and assessing model projections.
    • P.Eng. accreditation or eligibility is an asset.
    • Computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Excellent written and oral communication
$85,000 - $130,000 a year
