GKY, a part of True Environmental, a leading engineering and modeling firm specializing in hydrology and hydraulics, is looking for a talented and experienced H&H Modeler to join our team. This role is crucial for our projects, involving the analysis and modeling of drainage and flood control systems to inform infrastructure design, and flood mitigation strategies. We seek a motivated professional with a strong understanding of hydrology, hydraulics, and GIS applications.
What you'll do
- Develop and apply H&H models:Use industry-standard software like SWMM, HEC-RAS, and HEC-HMS to simulate river and stormwater systems.
- Acquire, process, and analyze various geospatial and environmental datasets, including LiDAR, land use/land cover, rainfall data, and streamflow records.
- Help prepare detailed technical reports, memos, and presentations summarizing modeling results, methodology, and recommendations for clients and regulatory agencies.
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other team members to ensure model outputs align with project goals and deliverables.
- Utilize GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS Pro) for spatial data preparation, visualization, and analysis to support modeling efforts.
- Identify and troubleshoot modeling challenges, calibrate models to observed data, and develop innovative solutions for complex water resource issues.
- Assist in client meetings and presentations to discuss modeling results and project progress.
- Support compliance efforts related to FEMA floodplain management and Virginia Dam Safety requirements.
- Experience working with or supporting municipal clients is highly desirable.
Minimum Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, Water Resources Management, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
- 8 years of professional experience in hydrology and hydraulics modeling.
- Proficiency with H&H modeling software, including SWMM (2D PCSWMM experience strongly preferred), HEC-RAS (with 2D experience strongly preferred) and HEC-HMS.
- Proficiency in GIS applications, specifically ArcGIS Pro.
- Familiarity with FEMA floodplain management guidelines and processes.
