THE OPPORTUNITY
Truss is offering a unique opportunity for an Account Manager to join our team and serve as a key point of contact for our clients, help our teams navigate the Federal procurement lifecycle, and deepen our relationships with key Federal partners. This role will have a 60% focus on current projects and renewals, and a 40% focus on new business. 

You will be responsible for creating strong relationships between our clients and teams so that clients know what to expect from us and vice-versa. While you will own contracting relationships personally, you will also partner with project team leadership to help them establish, manage and deepen other client relationships. Likewise, you will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities — but will partner with Truss’s Growth team to pursue them.

The person in this role must live and work within a 50 mile radius of Washington D.C.. This is a work-from-home opportunity with frequent travel to client sites within the region, as well as occasional travel for Truss activities (ex., conferences) outside of the Capital Region. The Account Manager will report to the Director of Federal Portfolios.

As a trusted partner to the Director of Federal Portfolios and project teams, the Account Manager will be responsible for delivering successful outcomes in three key areas:

Contract Operations & Staffing Support for Project teams

    • Own the full lifecycle of contract management including option years, modifications, follow-on contracts, and pricing
    • Maintain a forward-looking schedule of key contract milestones (e.g., renewals, recompetes)
    • Ensure operational excellence around billing, invoicing, compliance, and staffing in collaboration with project teams
    • Lead coordination of CPARS (Contractor Performance Assessment Reporting System) submissions and other client assessments
    • Support legal and compliance reviews in alignment with contract terms.

Client Relationship Management

    • Build and maintain strong relationships with Contracting Officers (COs), CORs, and other stakeholders
    • Support project leads in cultivating trust with clients and building strategic rapport
    • Maintain awareness of client needs and agency priorities to inform Truss’s delivery and growth effortsServe as a visible, reliable representative of Truss in client conversations

Growth & Strategic Expansion

    • Identify new business opportunities through existing relationships and evolving agency goals
    • Project manage and collaborate with the Growth team on recompetes, modifications, and follow-on opportunitiesHelp
    • Truss teams communicate our value clearly and compellingly to clients

What You Bring:

    • To be considered for this role you must live and work within a 50 mile radius of Washington D.C.
    • Direct experience navigating the bureaucracy of federal contracting, including regulatory frameworks such as Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and Contractor Performance Assessment Reporting System (CPARS)
    • Knowledge of procurement approaches, funding sources, and contracting vehicles at an agency level
    • Ability to understand technical concepts and familiarity with the agile software development process
    • Strong time management, organizational skills, and attention to detail
    • Exceptional communication — especially listening, presentation, and collaboration skills
    • Lead through influence and not through direct personnel management
    • Experience building and fostering long-term client relationships, especially generating trust in complex environments
    • Client satisfaction and/or customer service experience
    • Experience using written collaboration and communication using tools such as Slack, Zoom, and Gsuite — along with in-person work 
    • Ability to coach, encourage, and influence members of project teams into developing healthy relationships with clients
    • Ability to discover clients’ unmet needs and turn them into future business opportunities 
    • Flexibility to adapt to changing client needs, market conditions, and organizational priorities

Nice To Haves:

    • Previous experience with solutioning/business development
    • Ability to assess Truss fit for opportunities, based on government procurement artifacts
    • Experience in negotiating terms, pricing, and contracts with clients
    • Experience working in or leading software product development teams
$146,000 - $167,500 a year

You must be eligible to work in the U.S. and may be required to pass a federal background check at the discretion of the client/project you are placed on.
