We are looking for a highly accomplished Senior Analytics Engineer with exceptional expertise in dbt to join our expanding Data Platform team. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing and optimising our analytics architecture, transforming complex raw data into highly reliable, well-documented datasets.
These datasets will serve as the foundation for advanced analytics, MLOps, self-serve capabilities, and strategic decision-making across the business. You will collaborate with our Data Manager, Data Engineer, Analysts, and business stakeholders, building the scalable data pipelines and semantic layers that power our reporting, dashboards, and critical decisions.
This is a remote, UK based role and the hours of work are 37.5 hours per week. The salary range will be £65-78k per annum dependent on experience, plus discretionary bonus and generous equity options.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analytics Architecture & Modeling: Lead the design, development, and evolution of highly robust, scalable, and well-tested data models within dbt, establishing best practices that support analytics and business intelligence initiatives.
- Performance Optimisation & Scalability: Optimise complex data transformation layers, ensuring peak performance, scalability, and efficiency of data pipelines to accommodate rapid data growth and evolving business needs.
- Cross-Functional Leadership: Act as a key technical leader, collaborating extensively with data analysts, data scientists, and senior business stakeholders to translate complex business challenges into innovative and impactful technical solutions.
- Data Quality & Security: Champion data accuracy, consistency, and security through the implementation of testing frameworks, comprehensive monitoring tools, and adherence to leading data governance principles.
- Comprehensive Documentation & Data Literacy: Establish and enforce documentation standards for datasets, definitions, and data flows, fostering a culture of data literacy and empowering self-serve analytics across the organisation.
- Automation & CI/CD: Drive the adoption and implementation of automation strategies for data workflows, version control, and robust CI/CD pipelines across the entire analytics stack.
- Machine Learning Enablement: Oversee the transformation and migration of complex datasets to Databricks, ensuring data quality and accuracy to build a robust foundation that unlocks various ML use cases.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in analytics engineering, data engineering, or a related field.
- Advanced SQL skills and experience architecting solutions on modern data warehouses (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift).
- Hands-on experience with advanced modelling techniques in dbt.
- A deep understanding of ETL/ELT processes and tools (e.g., Fivetran, Airbyte, Stitch).
- Experience with data visualisation tools (e.g., Mode, Looker, Tableau, Power BI) and designing robust BI semantic layers.
- Exceptional understanding of data warehousing principles, dimensional modeling, and analytics best practices.
- Proficiency in Git-based workflows with a strong background in implementing and managing CI/CD pipelines for data transformations.
- Outstanding communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills, with a demonstrated ability to influence and lead cross-functional initiatives.
Nice to Have:
- Experience in a cloud environment (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure).Proficiency in Python for data scripting, orchestration and automation.
- Experience designing and implementing data models using Medallion Architecture.
- Background in a fast-paced, high-growth environment (e.g., tech, SaaS, ecommerce) preferably with experience scaling data solutions.
- Knowledge of data privacy regulation and governance frameworks.
- Experience using Databricks for large-scale data processing and analytics.
£65,000 - £78,000 a year
