About the team
The DataOps team at Trustly ensures that data from applications, APIs, and tools is delivered in a secure, scalable, and structured way across multiple environments. We work with batch (Airflow) and streaming (Kafka) pipelines, automate processes, and build observability to guarantee data quality. Our scope includes maintaining platforms like Redshift and QuickSight, enabling analytics, and supporting Data Science with infrastructure for model development. By delivering reliable and accessible data, we empower teams to make better decisions, improve productivity, and fight fraud. We are continuously evolving, focusing on automation, monitoring, and scalable services to strengthen Trustly’s data ecosystem.
What you will do:
- Design, implement, and maintain the scalable data platform infrastructure (AWS, Kubernetes, EMR, Redshift, Glue, etc.).
- Manage and evolve internal tools and frameworks for data ingestion and processing (e.g., Airbyte, Debezium, Airflow).
- Build and maintain secure, automated CI/CD pipelines for platform components and infrastructure-as-code.
- Collaborate with DevOps and Security teams to ensure compliance, reliability, and scalability of the data platform.
- Support version control, release workflows, and automation for notebooks, jobs, and tools used by data producers and consumers.
- Ensure high availability and performance of core data infrastructure through observability and alerting integrations.
- Guarantee data quality, lineage, and governance using tools such as dbt, and Data Catalogs.
- Implement robust monitoring and observability practices for data pipelines and workflows.
- Act as a technical leader and mentor, supporting other engineers in developing solutions and promoting DataOps best practices.
- Contribute to the definition of data architectures, strategies across the organization and design patterns.
Who you are:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, IT, or related technical field.
- Proven experience designing and building large-scale data pipelines, architectures, and datasets.
- Strong expertise with AWS services (EKS, EC2, EMR, RDS) and big data tools (Spark, Redshift).
- Proficiency in relational databases (preferably Postgres), advanced SQL, data modeling, and data warehousing.
- Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), Kubernetes, Docker, and CI/CD tools.
- Solid background in automation and workflow orchestration (e.g., Airflow).
- Advanced programming skills in Python.
- Ability to act as a reference for other engineers, guiding technical decisions, proposing scalable solutions, and promoting best practices in data engineering and DataOps.
- Strong ability to work with cross-functional teams (data, infrastructure, security, product), fostering integration and alignment across areas.
- Ability to understand the broader data architecture and the business impact of technical decisions, considering scalability, cost, security, and governance.
- Ability to identify improvement opportunities, take initiative, and propose solutions without relying on constant direction.
- Skilled at translating complex technical concepts into accessible language for both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Key for leading discussions, documenting decisions, and influencing stakeholders.
- Flexibility to handle frequent changes, evolving priorities, new technologies, and high-complexity contexts.
