Tutor Intelligence is an MIT robotics startup that deploys AI-powered robots to factories across the United States. In these roles, you will help us deploy and care for a large fleet of robots that are transforming industrial automation.
Robotic Technicians spend a lot of time traveling to customer sites, installing new robots, and maintaining existing ones. When not traveling, they prepare for upcoming visits, ship spare parts, and assist customers with light repairs.
In this role, you will gain exposure to the entire robotic system — from nuts and bolts to electrical, pneumatics, and more — building both deep technical knowledge and broad problem-solving skills.
Travel is within the U.S. and usually involves a combination of flights and ground travel to reach customer sites.


Key Responsibilities

    • Provide advanced troubleshooting support to field technicians and customers.
    • Act as an escalation point for high-impact technical issues.
    • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on robotic systems.
    • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic subsystems.
    • Execute hardware and software upgrades as defined by SOPs.
    • Document all maintenance activities accurately.
    • Travel extensively to customer sites to support installed systems. (up to 75%)
    • Lead on-site robot deployments, including installation and system bring-up.
    • Support the deployment of beta equipment and provide structured feedback.
    • Deliver introductory training sessions for customers and new technicians.
    • Partner with Engineering to provide field feedback on performance and usability.
    • Mentor junior technicians, model professionalism, and enforce SOP adherence.
    • Work closely with the Head of Maintenance on strategic and leadership initiatives.
    • Build deep technical expertise to become a product expert.
    • Execute special projects assigned to support company priorities.

Experience & Qualifications

    • Years of Experience:
    • Minimum 5+ years in field service, maintenance, or technical support roles
    • At least 2+ years in automation, robotics, or related electromechanical systems preferred
    • Technical Skills:
    • Strong troubleshooting experience with electromechanical products
    • Hands-on knowledge of automation systems (robotics a plus)
    • Experience with pneumatic systems, including fittings, valves, and regulators
    • Ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings
    • Customer Engagement:
    • Proven experience working directly with customers in the field
    • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and professionally
    • Leadership:
    • Prior mentoring or leadership experience in a technical team setting is a plus
    • Strong organizational and documentation discipline
    • Other Requirements:
    • Bilingual (Spanish) a plus
    • Must hold a valid driver’s license and be able to travel frequently across the U.S.
    • Comfortable with up to 75% travel (flights + ground transport)
$70,000 - $95,000 a year
