Data Center Engineer
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Data Center Engineer to join our team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for the comprehensive lifecycle management of our data center infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and efficiency. This position requires a strong technical aptitude, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and the ability to collaborate effectively within a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

    • Infrastructure Management: Perform installation, maintenance, and decommissioning of all data center infrastructure, including server, network, telecommunications, and connectivity equipment. This includes executing upgrades and repairs as needed.
    • System Troubleshooting & Support: Collaborate with Engineering and Operations teams to diagnose and resolve hardware, network, and application-related issues within the data center environment.
    • Vendor Collaboration: Liaise with external vendors to ensure timely resolution of issues and to uphold the highest standards of service delivery.
    • Documentation & Asset Management: Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, including operational procedures, policies, rack elevations, and inventory records.
    • Technology Advancement: Research emerging data center infrastructure technologies and recommend strategic advancements to management to enhance operational capabilities.
    • Latency Equalization (Preferred): Monitor and maintain TXSE's latency-equalized infrastructure, ensuring an optimal experience for customers.

Requirements

    • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in data center support, encompassing hands-on server and network troubleshooting.
    • Data Center Operations: Proven expertise in large-scale data center equipment installation, movement, and cabling.
    • Telecommunications: Working knowledge of telecommunications technologies, systems, and circuits.
    • Infrastructure Knowledge: Foundational understanding of HVAC, power, fire suppression and associated safety protocols.
    • Autonomy & Collaboration: Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced setting.
    • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with meticulous attention to detail.
    • Flexibility: Willingness to work varied shifts for short durations, provide on-call support, and travel to data center locations as required.
    • Physical Demands: Ability to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 65 pounds.
