About the role
The position of Senior Legal Counsel reports to the General Counsel and forms part of a close-knit team. The Legal Team works closely with all of Tyro’s business units and is regularly involved in cross-functional teams working towards delivering new products and solutions for Tyro’s customers.
What you'll do
- Giving accurate and timely counsel to executives and business stakeholders, covering a variety of legal areas, including financial services, commercial contracting, privacy, data and intellectual property
- Working closely with Tyro’s business units to deliver new products and initiatives
- Reviewing and advising on commercial contracts and marketing materials
- Monitoring developments in the legal and regulatory environment
- Assisting in the development of policies, procedures and training programs for staff on relevant legal issues
- Researching and evaluating different risk factors regarding business decisions and operations
- Communicating and negotiating with counterparties
- Uphold and contribute to Tyro’s strong risk culture by complying with our policies, completing mandatory training and identifying and managing risks within your day-to-day work
What you'll bring
- 5 – 8+ years post-qualification experience
- A current NSW practising certificate
- Ability to manage competing priorities and escalations
- Ability to provide commercially focused legal support
- Strong drafting and negotiation skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate to people in a range of positions
- Interest in process improvement and efficiency (including adoption of technology-enabled solutions)
- Proven in-house legal experience highly regarded
- Demonstrated legal expertise in either financial services law or
,technology media and telecommunications.
