About the role

As a Software Engineer with Tyro you will be a vital member of our Product Technology team, helping us deliver business value to our customers through building and supporting the on-boarding and customer systems. We follow Agile methodologies and work collaboratively as a cross functional team. As a key member of the development team, you will work closely with designers, product managers, and other stakeholders to define and execute on our vision and values. While based in Sydney office, you will report to the Delivery Lead. 
 

What you'll do

    • Design, write, test, review, and deploy high quality scalable code, and guide others to do the same  
    • Contribute through the whole delivery life cycle, from inception to production, through planning, development and testing.  
    • Drive improvements to our standards of security, reliability, performance, and quality 
    • Translate your technical skills within a cross functional team to influence other developers, product managers, designers and senior managers and ensure the team understands our vision.
    • Uphold and contribute to Tyro’s strong risk culture by complying with our policies, completing mandatory training and identifying and managing risks within your day-to-day work

What you'll bring

    • Proven working experience in Java/Kotlin/Nodejs or other object-oriented languages 
    • Experience with standard web technologies, Javascript (ReactJS, NodeJS)  
    • Experience with Cloud-based development and DevOps practices (AWS, ECS, ECR, S3, Lambda etc) 
    • Solid experience across the board with a strong depth of back-end knowledge  
    • Experience with building services and APIs  
    • Experience with agile software development methodologies  
    • Experience with infrastructure as code and continuous delivery  
    • Understanding of good architecture
    • A collaborative approach to working together with other engineers, product managers and UX designers. 
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence the engineering teams towards a united vision
