The Path Forward Return to Work Internship Program:
The Path Forward Return to Work program at Udemy is for professionals returning to the workforce after taking time off for caregiving. If selected, you’ll get 16 weeks of paid employment doing work you love for one of the world’s most innovative companies in EdTech! You’ll have the chance to update your skills, add new experience to your resume, and make new professional connections. You’ll also receive support through Path Forward, a nonprofit organization on a mission to empower people who’ve been focused on caregiving transition back to the paid workforce.

The program is open to anyone who has at least 5 years of professional experience and have been out of the paid workforce for at least two years to focus on caregiving. If you meet these criteria and your skills match our needs, we welcome you to apply.

JOB DESCRIPTION
As a Paralegal, you would be a member of Udemy’s legal team and working with three attorneys.  Reporting to our Head of Legal, you would have an integral role in managing all legal operations as well as providing support on a wide range of legal issues.  You would work closely with the rest of the legal team and with other teams to support Udemy’s business. Our legal team needs an experienced person to help us scale our legal operations for both our B2B division as well as our marketplace platform as we continue to grow our business.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Work closely with Udemy’s Support and Trust & Safety teams to respond to user customer support requests including content takedowns and other legal or privacy related claims and develop and implement internal and user facing policies to handle these requests
    • Manage Udemy’s piracy vendor as well as our piracy monitoring program Draft, negotiate and manage the execution of various agreements
    • Oversee corporate compliance for Udemy subsidiaries

    • Support the Human Resources department (contracts, policies)Manage the operations of the Legal department including:
    • Managing all tools and systems for user support, and contract administration
    • Preparing and leading the Legal team meetings
    • Finding inefficiencies and areas of improvement for delivering legal support to the organization
    • Preparing training decks and videos on various legal topics (intellectual property, data protection, employment law)
    • Contributing to the Legal wiki
    • Support the attorneys on special projects (legal research, due diligence)

QUALIFICATIONS:

    • 3+ years of paralegal support experience with a successful, well-run, high-growth tech company (or companies) with international operations.
    • Exceptional organizational, project management, and prioritization skills.
    • This is a multitasking role with a wide range of responsibilities.
    • The ability to think and execute both strategically and tactically.
    • Outstanding written and oral communications skills.
    • The ability to work with a wide variety of people, at all levels in the organization, in a fast-paced, startup environment.
    • The love of learning and mastering new skills.
    • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Solid working knowledge of Zendesk, Salesforce, Docusign, Box and contract management software solutions.
    • Experience with platform technology companies serving both content creators and content consumers, such as YouTube, eBay, Etsy, etc.
