As an Outside Sales Engineer, you will take ownership of the entire sales cycle and be focused on developing new business within an assigned territory as well as retaining and developing business with existing customers. You will help our customers realize their equipment needs with appropriate process treatment product solutions. 

This is an outside sales position that requires extensive travel in an assigned territory within Texas.

What you will do:

    • Prospect, develop and close business with new and existing customers.
    • Meet or exceed annual sales targets within assigned territory and accounts.
    • Regularly travel to perform customer consultations to determine needs and solutions and obtain detailed information for estimates and proposals.
    • Maintain involvement on turnkey projects, demonstrations, and other related customer projects to meet deadlines.
    • Work with Sales Staff to generate proposals for project and customer requirements.
    • Maintain an in-depth knowledge of the water and wastewater industry and product lines represented by the company.
    • Utilize QuickBase (CRM) for all prospecting and customer activities.
    • Prepare and give technical presentations to explain to customers how the products and services work.
    • Work with the customers and Engineers to ensure the equipment meets the system requirements.
    • Communicate with the sales team to understand consumer demands and offer sales support where necessary.
    • Secure orders, guarantee product standards and assure product delivery.
    • Establish customer rapport and acceptance.
    • Plan for modifications to products to meet consumer demands.
    • Help clients solve problems with product usage.
    • Recommend new and improved products to the customers and explain how the equipment will be more cost-effective.

Background/ Experience:

    • We are looking for someone with at least 2 years of experience working with consulting engineers and end users. Previous experience within a mechanical, chemical, or process engineering role a plus.
    • Sales/ business development experience is a plus.
    • Experience working in the water/ wastewater industry a plus.
    • Comfortable with extensive travel within Texas, and occasional overnight stays required. Infrequent out of State travel for training and sales meetings with manufacturers.
    • BS/BA in Engineering or equivalent work experience.
    • Strong professional communication and presentation skills.
    • Ability to thrive in a results-based environment.
    • Effective closer.
    • Mechanical/ technical aptitude.
    • Previous experience using CRM software, QuickBase preferred.
    • Valid driver’s license, and current auto insurance.
