Position Summary:
 
We are seeking a highly motivated Research Associate with experience in molecular biology, cell-based and genetics techniques to support molecular therapeutic research programs in the area of rare diseases. The candidate will work with nucleic acids, proteins, and mammalian cells to contribute to the development of biochemical and cell-based assays for target validation and advancement of biologics and small molecule therapeutics. Responsibilities include independent planning and execution of experimental work, data analysis and presentation of material at project team meetings. The candidate will be expected to collaborate and work dynamically on diverse projects, communicate effectively on scientific concepts and interact with colleagues in other functional areas. 

Responsibilities incluidng, but not limited to:

    • Provide hands-on experimental support for scientific projects using techniques involving nucleic acids, proteins and biologics and cell based assays
    • Assist in design of experimental studies and perform necessary assays for data capture, analysis and presentation. Candidate will be required to perform accurate record keeping
    • Contribute towards new assay development as necessary using appropriate platform technologies
    • Demonstrate curiosity and creative desire to answer scientific questions
    • Collaborate on different projects providing technical expertise where necessary to assist other functional groups
    • Communicate effectively by providing regular verbal and formal project updates

Requirements

    • BS/MS in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology and/or related discipline with at least 3 year for BS and 1 years for MS of post-graduation hand-on laboratory experience in academic and/or industrial setting.
    • Proficiency in mammalian cell culturing (cell lines and primary cells) and transfection/transduction techniques.
    • Experience with multi-color flow cytometry (surface and intracellular staining) in cell lines and animal tissue.
    • Experience in basic molecular biology techniques such as DNA/RNA purification, cloning, and PCR.
    • Proficiency in protein detection including Western Blot, ELISA, and multiplexing platforms such as MSD/Luminex.
    • Ablility to generate new methods and protocols for in vitro studies.
    • Position requires excellent organizational skills and time management to meet deadlines in a fast-paced organization. Ability to multitask and work on diverse projects is required.
    • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.

Preferred Experience

    •  Any experience related to ectopic gene expression and targeted knockdown/knockout techniques (such as RNAi, antisense, ZFNs, TALENs, CRISPR-Cas9) is desired.
    • Experience in early target validation and drug development process is desired.
