Position Summary 
The identification and accurate diagnosis of patients with rare diseases is crucial to the success of the company’s clinical trials and other programs.  

The Director, Patient Diagnosis Operations will primarily be responsible for:

    • Translating the Patient Diagnosis Program (PDP) strategy for the portfolio developed by Global Routes to Care and other cross-functional stakeholders into detailed operational plans
    • Managing, coaching and mentoring a team of Data Analysts

At Ultragenyx, PDP efforts are coordinated into operational plans that have specific goals, time limits and metrics. Working closely with the Senior Director of the Patient Diagnosis Program and Program Team Leads, the Patient Diagnosis Operations Director will:

    • Develop, in collaboration with cross-functional colleagues as needed, program-specific detailed tactical operational plans
    • Develop and monitor data analytics for each operational plan via the Ultragenyx CRM System
    • Develop Dashboards and Reports for senior leadership
    • Provide insights and continuous improvement strategies

Additional Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    • Hire and develop a team of high-quality data analysts
    • Work with cross-functional colleagues to understand key patient identification problems and areas of opportunity
    • Establish collaboration with the Patient Diagnosis Liaison and Medical Science Liaison teams to support their efforts via CRM Dashboards, reports and analytics
    • Provide timely feedback and insights on the PDP
    • Support development of presentations with clear story-lines, communicating key insights and recommendations while integrating data sources and analytic reports
    • Respond flexibly and adaptively to the needs of the organization through a culture of continuous improvement and innovation
    • Understand strategic patient diagnosis objectives of the company and ensure the CRM system is capable of delivering on campaign metrics, dashboards and reports
    • Ensure all activities are compliant with company policies and SOPs

Requirements:

    • 5+ years of industry experience, including 2+ years of relevant leadership and management experience
    • Bachelor's degree or credentialing in a relevant discipline.A graduate degree is advantageous, but not essential
    • Project Management experience with technical expertise in CRM Analytics
    • Ability to successfully build and lead a team and work independently
    • Relevant experience in the rare disease space encompassing patient diagnosis is a plus
    • Demonstrated experience in leading cross-functional teams

    • Ability to organize and prioritize own work schedule
    • Ability to make decisions which have a significant impact on the department’s credibility, operations, and services
    • Ability to create materials such as reports, presentations for inside and outside the organization, and present/speak to groups
    • This is a position based in Novato, CA or Brisbane, CA that requires demonstrated capability to lead and execute cross-functional team meetings and develop, coach and manage direct reports.
