We are headquartered in Novato, CA, 25 miles north of San Francisco, and we also have an office in Brisbane, CA, 10 miles south of San Francisco and Basel, Switzerland.  This role will be based in Novato, CA. 
Position Summary:

The Senior Director Business Insights & Market Analytics participates actively in supporting Global commercial planning efforts by providing objective, in-depth information about current and future markets & competitive forces and oversees forecasting methodologies and analytics.  The Senior Director Business Insights & Market Analytics acts as a strategic advisor to the Global commercial teams with deep expertise in current and future competitive drivers in the marketplace as well as functional expertise in how to use intelligence to develop competitive strategies and long range forecasts.

Responsibilities, including but not limited to:

    • Provide an objective commercial viewpoint based on an in-depth understanding and analysis of commercial, clinical, and scientific competitive information and market research.  Make recommendations on brand strategy that prepare the brand for a competitive marketplace
    • Build a center of excellence for market research and oversee all global market research vendor selection and management
    • Ensure up-to-date competitive intelligence and assumptions are shared with all appropriate commercial teams (includes congresses, news flashes, pipeline updates, therapeutic area landscape reviews)
    • Provide situational analysis support for quarterly business reviews, brand planning, launch readiness reviews, etc.
    • Field intelligence facilitation
    • Support development of and communicate actionable insights into the business
    • Work with business partners to understand key business problems and areas of opportunity
    • Through analytics, identify new high-impact areas of opportunity for the business
    • Work with business partners to understand key business problems and areas of opportunity
    • Support development of presentations with clear story-lines, communicating key insights and recommendations while integrating data sources and existing team knowledge
    • Develop a Center of Excellence for forecasting methodologies and work with commercial Teams to ensure consistently high quality program forecasts
    • Translate primary and secondary insights, including market research into key, long-range patient-based forecasts


    • 10 plus years of market analytics, competitive intelligence and forecasting experience
    • Experience working with and influencing Commercial teams
    • Experience overseeing or managing complex programs
    • Experience identifying, engaging and managing external vendors in collaboration with Commercial & Procurement teams
    • Preferably experience in the rare disease and orphan product environment
    • Experience in biologic high value products and specialty care drugs preferred
    • Comprehensive knowledge of global healthcare systems and markets
    • Experience building and maintaining complex market assessments and forecast models
    • Ability to successfully build and lead a team and work independently
    • Product launch experience preferred
    • Experience working across an alliance partnership strongly preferred
    • Strong leadership skills and ability to influence and lobby internal and affiliate/alliance decision-makers 
    • Excellent clinical, financial, and analytical skills and acumen
    • Minimum B.S. degree
    • Masters degree in business or science preferred
    • Travel - around 20%
