We are headquartered in Novato, CA, 25 miles north of San Francisco, and we also have an office in Brisbane, CA, 10 miles south of San Francisco.

Position Summary:
The Patient Diagnosis Liaison (PDL) is a member of a field team of clinically focused professionals who will function within the Medical Affairs organization. PDLs are responsible for delivering disease education, creating company awareness, and assisting with patient identification within the medical community related specifically to Ultragenyx clinical programs. PDLs are key players in providing clinical and scientific support for Ultragenyx. The PDL will manage patient identification initiatives, support clinical trial recruitment, oversee genetic testing, and support the Medical Affairs team at scientific congresses and conferences. PDL responsibilities will also include capturing and maintaining data within our CRM system. This field based position requires a professional with established personal and scientific credibility to interact with clinicians and community based offices. The position involves travel of more than 75%.

Responsibilities including but not limited to:

    • Increase disease awareness related to targeted areas of research and clinical product development
    • Initiate and increase genetic testing to help identify patients with ultra-rare and rare diseases
    • Drive trial recruitment, by educating clinicians about current enrolling trials within Ultragenyx Clinical Programs
    • Collaborate with internal cross-functional teams to enhance patient enrollment in Ultragenyx sponsored clinical trials
    • Establish and coordinate a health care partnership with relevant stakeholders including neurologists, neuromuscular physicians, endocrinologists, nephrologists, midlevel practitioners, nurses, and registered dieticians
    • Participate in strategy development, assessing trade-offs between initiatives and priorities, followed by tactical implementation of final decisions
    • Participate/Attend medical congresses and conferences
    • Pair the research and educational needs of external constituents with the appropriate Ultragenyx team member and resources
    • Serve on cross-functional teams within Ultragenyx as a conduit for accurate and updated medical/market communication, medical/market intelligence, emerging clinical trends, and HCP feedback
    • Maintain comprehensive clinical knowledge of assigned therapeutic areas, and evolving clinical landscape related to Ultragenyx products
    • Collaborate within Medical Affairs Team to deliver focused responses to external requests for medical-scientific information regarding Ultragenyx products
    • Represent the physician/market, field perspective during planning strategy meetings
    • Disseminate scientific publications, educational programs, market research, and other educational materials ensuring information to health care providers is timely, accurate, detailed, and balanced

Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree or credentialing in a relevant discipline. A graduate degree is advantageous, but not essential
    • Relevant experience in the rare disease space encompassing patient identification and establishment of KOL networks is highly desirable but not essential
    • Minimum of 3-5 years in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology or healthcare industry required. Will consider credentialed candidates with current relevant clinical experience within the rare disease space (RD, RN, GC)
    • Position is field based and will require 75% travel including overnight business travel
