An apprentice designer is someone looking to continue to grow within their craft. This is typically someone who has recently completed a UI/UX boot camp and/or is fresh out of college with a design degree focused on the digital space. Apprentices are expected to work with senior designers on large digital product projects and are expected to deliver on client-driven timelines for project success. The Apprentice program is 12 weeks and consists of:
- 4 weeks of lectures from our senior designers, engineers, and product managers
- 4 weeks on an internal project to apply some of the learnings
- 4 weeks on a client project
Post this program our team will make a recommendation on a path forward for full-time hire or provide constructive feedback on skills to improve on. This is a Houston-based role that requires you to work in our East Downtown office.
What You'll Do
- Act as a team player with the ability to thrive in a collaborative environment
- Produce high-quality, aesthetic designs that make you enthusiastic
- Collaborate with team to collect and implement feedback given by the client and respective leadership
- Work closely on cross-functional teams including other designers, developers, project managers, QA, etc.
- Contribute to the design and production of project deliverables including app flows, wireframes, moodboards and visual designs
What You'll Bring
- Relevant sample designs of coursework, design bootcamp or other materials that speak to design experience on digital platforms (i.e. mobile, web, etc.)
- Passion for design
Above and Beyond
- Experience with web and mobile design
- Familiar with modern design tools (i.e. Sketch, InVision, Adobe Suite, etc.)
- Samples of side projects outside of coursework or internships
- Portfolio that showcases design skills
- Enjoy working on a wide variety of projects, both short and long-term
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in design, human-centered design, visual arts, illustration, etc.
- Familiar with all phases of design processes. Agile experience is a plus.
