Description
 
The Senior IT vendor management specialist will manage a combination of contract, performance, relationship, and risk management roles with IT vendors. He or she must understand contractual, commercial, and operational working relationships with vendors to ensure that contractual commitments are delivered across IT.
 
Responsibilities
 
·       Establish internal policies and approve external policies, standards, processes, and templates for working with vendors.
·       Understand IT vendor spending by category, cost center, region, and vendor.
·       Classify, rationalize, and optimize the vendor portfolio, and concentrate efforts on managing the most strategic vendors.
·       Manage regular senior-level collaborative meetings between the vendor and the client.
·       Create contract, performance, relationship, and risk management procedures.
·       Ensure there are clear metrics across all key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure strong performance management.
·       Identify and execute value opportunities with key vendor relationships.
·       Manage the communications process with vendors
·       Collect constituent reporting requirements, and develop vendor scorecards and dashboards that present relevant data tailored to the audience.
·       Focus vendor performance metrics on technical, process, and business outcomes, such as innovation, competitive advantage, and increased revenue. Define and hold strategic vendors to higher performance standards, and drive continuous improvement.
·       Maintain/enhance tools for use in vendor management, including vendor tracking, analytics, and performance management tools (scorecards and dashboards).
·       Collect, consolidate, and communicate detailed reports and key vendor data to stakeholders on vendor performance, risk, and relationships.Foster analytics-driven decisions based on this data.
·       Inform IT vendor managers/procurement and business operations about information gleaned from market investigation reports on sourcing methods, products, and potential vendors, and while conducting vendor analysis.
·       Include financial viability, business continuity, and corporate and regulatory compliance.
·       Assess and report on the risk level of vendors based on financial, skills, tools, and the use of third parties.
·       Support internal staff that manage individual vendor accounts.
·       Work with internal colleagues to ensure they have the appropriate information and knowledge at hand to be successful in what they do.
·       Assist IT vendor managers and IT procurement (if outside the VMO) with vendor evaluation and selection criteria, procedures, and best-practice tools and templates.
·       Assist procurement staff when negotiating with vendors to optimize the procurement of cost-effective acquisitions.
·       Manage relationships with vendors for cost effectiveness, build a main vendor repository to ensure effective contract management and vendor relationships, and plan for major software upgrades, ensuring that change management procedures/methodologies are used.
 
Position Requirements
 
Formal Education & Certification
·       Four-year college diploma or university degree in computer science or computer engineering, and/or […] years equivalent work experience.
·        
 
Knowledge & Experience
·       Minimum of five [NB1] years' experience with negotiating and managing contract life cycles, with an emphasis on technology or IT service agreements.
·       Experience in managing large complex contracts in one or more IT categories, including hardware, software, service, and communication.
·       Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
·       Experience working with all key departments, and knowledge of procurement and vendor management practices and certifications (CIPS, ITIL, and COBIT).
·       ITIL experience desired, but not required.
·       Knowledge of IT concepts and systems.
