VMWare Certified Technical Associate – VCTA-DCV or equivalent experience.
Requirements
- Strong understanding of typical VMWare infrastructure and networks
- A minimum of five years recent experience as an IT engineer with a focus on VMware data center support.
- Proficiency in managing and configuring VMWare associated programs such as, vSan architecture, vCenter, vSphere, WebSphere, vMotion, ESXI, and NSX Distributed Firewalls
- Working knowledge within the past five years of basic networking fundamentals.
- Proficiency in configuring and managing Windows Servers (2012, 2016, 2019, 2022) in a virtual system.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Exceptional analytical and technical aptitude.
- Great organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
- Availability to resolve urgent VMware problems outside of business hours.
- Working knowledge of Veeam Backup systems a plus.
Key Accountabilities
- Designing, Planning, Managing, and Configuring, VMWare software and services for 1,500+ virtual servers, 20+ physical host servers, and multiple SAN and vSAN servers.
- Ability to manage virtual networks and virtual network services such as vSwitches, and NSX Distributed Firewalls
- Working knowledge of network services such as routing, DNS, DHCP, TCP, UDP, and NTP.
- Experience in creating and maintaining documentation for the VMWare infrastructure, including architecture diagram, configuration guides, and standard operating procedures.
- Staying up to date with industry trends and best practices in VMWare computing and applying the knowledge to improve the VMWare environment.
- Ability to monitor reliability and availability and troubleshoot issues, optimize performance, and ensure the VMWare infrastructure is secure
- Work closely with other IT members and other departments that use these VMWare virtual servers
- Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the VMWare infrastructure
- Should have recent working knowledge and hands on experience handling and troubleshooting servers like Windows 2012, 2016, 2019 & 2022 in a virtual environment.
- Provide Level-2/3 support and troubleshooting to resolve issues
- Performing maintenance and system upgrades to VMWare software and underlying physical hosts including service packs, patches, hot fixes and security configurations
- Select and implement security tools, policies, and procedures in conjunction with the company’s security team for the VMWare infrastructure
- Provide documentation and demonstrations to auditors during certification audits
