The Assistant Controller supports the Corporate Controller and is responsible for maintaining financial reports and records.

Essential Job Functions

    • Manage the corporate accounting staff and other team members as the role progresses
    • Manage all aspects of the general ledger and month end close
    • Perform a monthly trend analysis to identify any inaccuracies and required adjustments
    • Perform all calculations for monthly revenue recognition using the percentage completion method and liaising with project managers as needed
    • Assist in the preparation and consolidation of monthly financial statements
    • Coordinate or assist in the preparation of forecasts, budgets, and required reporting
    • Ensure that inter company accounts reconcile, and any necessary adjustments are recorded
    • Responsible for transfer pricing and FX calculations and adjustments
    • Research accounting issues for compliance with generally accepted accounting principles
    • Proactively identify and implement process improvement
    • Establish and maintain internal controls
    • Assist in the creation and upkeep of an accounting policies and procedure manual
    • Help build and formalize a more efficient process for filing sales and use tax
    • Manage the annual review and tax process, ensuring that deadlines are met
    • Manage other audits that arise
    • Liaison with the bank for any account openings, closures, portal changes, etc.
    • Complete annual insurance renewal applications and other items as required
    • Perform special projects as requested 

Preparation, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

    • 7+ years of relevant experience  
    • At least 2 years of management experience
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance required
    • Master’s Degree and/or CPA a plus but not required
    • Understanding of key accounting standards
    • Experience in a project-centric industry a must, with the construction industry preferred
    • Experience working with multiple entities and inter-company reconciliation
    • Experience with international accounting, transfer pricing, and/or FX accounting
    • Experience with sales and use tax rules and filings
    • Project Management or ERP Software experience a must
    • Knowledge of Vista/Viewpoint is a plus
    • Microsoft Excel proficiency
    • Public accounting experience a plus
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
    • Strong attention to detail and critical thinking skills
    • Strong organizational and time management skills
    • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-past environment without reminders
    • Ability to work with large amounts of data while maintaining accurate and up to date records
    • Ability to prioritize effectively

Supervisory Responsibility

    • Corporate Accounting Staff initially with more supervisory responsibility expected
