Summary
The FDOT Technician – Pile Driving Inspector role will have hands-on experience in inspecting and monitoring pile driving activities according to FDOT standards and specifications. This role required a thorough understanding of civil engineering principles, construction practices, and qualify control procedures related to pile driving operations.

Physical Demands & Work Environment
·       Required to drive, stand, walk, use hands to type, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance, talk, and hear
·       Standing or sitting for extended periods of time may be required
·       Lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds is expected
·       The noise level is usually moderate

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Conducting comprehensive inspections and qualify control checks on pile driving activities at construction sites to ensure compliance with FDOT standards, specifications and safety protocols
    • Monitoring and documenting pile driving equipment setup, operation, and performance to verify adherence to project plans
    • Traveling to various job sites in a company provided vehicle
    • Performing field tests and measurements to assess pile integrity, bearing capacity, and alignment accurately
    • Documenting inspection findings, test results and observations accurately using designated forms and reporting tools
    • Communicating effectively with project managers, engineers, contractors and other stakeholders regarding inspection results, issues and recommendations
    • Collaborating with construction crews and subcontractors to address technical concerns, deviations from plans and non-compliance issues related to pile driving activities
    • Assisting in revolving construction-related challenges, ensuring timely completion of tasks and maintaining project quality standards and adherence to safety protocols
    • Staying updated with industry best practices, technology advancements and regulatory changes relevant to pile driving techniques and equipment
    • Participate in meetings, workshops and training sessions as required to enhance skills and knowledge
    • Upholding a strong commitment to workplace safety, environmental protection and ethical conduct throughout all job duties
    • Other duties may be assigned

Required Qualifications:

    • High school graduate with at least 3-5 years of experience in construction inspection or related field
    • FDOT CTQP (Construction Training Qualification Program) certifications in pile driving inspection
    • Strong understanding of FDOT standards, specifications and procedures
    • CTQP Concrete
    • Valid Driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites as needed
    • Must be at least 18 years old for entry onto job sites, must be able to lift up to 75 lbs. repeatedly
    • Familiarity with construction inspection tools, equipment and software applications

Preferred Qualifications:

    • Preference for experience in the AEC industry
