Summary
The FDOT Technician – Concrete Inspector role involves conducting thorough inspections of drilled shaft construction sites, ensuring compliance with FDOT standards, and documenting findings accurately. This position requires background in civil engineering, FDOT CTQP Certifications in drilled shaft inspection, and strong communication skills with stakeholders and address construction related issues effectively.

Physical Demands & Work Environment:
·       Required to drive, stand, walk, use hands to type, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance, talk, and hear
·       Standing or sitting for extended periods of time may be required
·       Lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds is expected
·       The noise level is usually moderate

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Conducting through inspections of concrete materials, placement and curing processes at construction sites ensure compliance with FDOT specifications, plans and standards
    • Performing quality control checks on concrete mix designs, materials, equipment, and workmanship related according to project requirements
    • Conducting field tests and measurements, such as slump tests, air content tests and compressive strength tests, to assess concrete quality and performance
    • Monitoring concrete placement operations, curing procedures, and temperature control measures to prevent defects and ensure structural integrity
    • Document inspection findings, test results, and observations accurately using designated forms, reports, and digital tools
    • Traveling to various job sites in a company provided vehicle
    • Communicating effectively with project managers, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders regarding inspection results, issues and resolutions
    • Monitoring and tracking construction progress, schedule adherence and adherence to safety protocols
    • Collaborating with construction crews, deviations from plans, and non-compliance issues
    • Stay updated with relevant industry standards, best practices, and regulatory changes related to drilled shaft construction and inspection
    • Participate in meetings, workshops and training sessions as required to enhance skills and knowledge
    • Other duties may be assigned

Required Qualifications:

    • High school graduate with at least 3-5 years of experience in construction inspection or related field
    • FDOT CTQP (Construction Training Qualification Program) certification in concrete testing, inspection, and/or materials technician certifications
    • Strong understanding of FDOT standards, specifications and procedures
    • Valid Driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites as needed
    • Must be at least 18 years old for entry onto job sites, must be able to lift up to 75 lbs. repeatedly
    • Familiarity with construction inspection tools, equipment and software applications

Preferred Qualifications:

    • Preference for experience in the AEC Industry
