Overview:

This position will be primarily responsible for handling the accounting transactions relating to bank account reconciliations, month end journal entries, general ledger account reconciliations, and other general accounting responsibilities as needed.  This position will support the Accounting Manager in carrying out the responsibilities of the Accounting Department.  This position requires solid communication, technology, organizational, and analytical skills.

Job Responsibilities:

    • Download daily bank activity from bank website and reconcile all bank accounts in Deltek Vantagepoint daily/weekly/monthly.  Ensure all outstanding items are properly accounted for and valid.
    • Follow up and address old outstanding items on the bank reconciliations on a timely basis.
    • Follow up on any unusual items on the daily bank activity report, ie. – returned checks, returned deposits, bank/credit card fees that need to be booked, etc. 
    • Own the trial balance.  Reconcile General Ledger accounts monthly. 
    • Participate in the month-end close processes and timelines which includes: producing Month-End Close journal entries, preparing monthly account reconciliations for general ledger accounts, and investigating account reconciliation variances. 
    • Assist in the preparation of the annual budget 
    • Assist with audit preparation and requests 

Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration with Accounting or Finance major or equivalent experience required
    • One to two years or more of experience in accounting or finance
    • Must possess intermediate to advanced excel skills
    • Experience with Deltek Vantagepoint or Paycom a major plus
    • CPA or CMA preferred 
    • Must have strong computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Excel
    • Must possess strong analytical and organizational skills
    • Ability to work well with others under deadline situations and respond to changes in priorities
    • Ability to work independently, take initiative and see projects through to completion
