Summary
The Project Manager is a key role responsible for managing the projects and clients with little to no oversight, direction, or instruction. The permit manager will work hand in hand with senior staff members to develop the confidence and knowledge that will prepare you to handle larger projects with autonomy and progress to Junior Partner. The ideal candidate is a reliable, trustworthy individual who thrives in a fast-paces environment where collaboration and autonomy are valued.

Physical Demands & Work Environment
• Required to drive, stand, walk, use hands to type, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; talk and hear. Body motions and movements include bending, twisting, reaching, stooping, pulling, kneeling, lifting, carrying, and pushing, with or without reasonable accommodation
• Lifting and/or moving up to 35lbs. regularly is expected, on occasion, with or without reasonable accommodation
• Job site conditions may or may not be accessible by vehicle, including wetlands, swamps, grasslands, and fields with uneven surfaces, sand, brush, and other natural and man-made obstacles
• This job is primarily and regularly exposed to outside weather conditions and construction sites where the noise level is usually moderate to loud
• This is not a remote position. This role will be based on the selected job posting location.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Communicate effectively with clients, government agencies, junior permitting staff, to be able to obtain permits and manage daily permitting tasks.
    • Federal and State wetland permitting processes from pre-application to completion
    • Wetland delineations
    • Wetland functional assessment (UMAM)
    • Produce maps and other graphics in support of a variety of applied ecological investigations (GIS)
    • Process GPS data and manage GPS equipment
    • Produce technical copy to various applications, narratives, reports and documents
    • Other duties may be assigned

Required Qualifications:

    • Valid Florida Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record (in accordance with our Driver’s License and Motor Vehicle Record Check Criteria)
    • Ability to pass a background check screening in accordance with Florida’s Jessica Lunsford Act (or equivalent state classification).
    • MS or PD in Biology or related Environmental Science or equivalent work experience
    • At least 3 years of experience applying for an obtaining 404 and ERP Permits
    • Wetland delineation experience with demonstrable experience establishing wetland jurisdictional boundaries that have been reviewed and approved by federal and state agencies.
    • Experience identifying hydric soil indicators
    • Constitution suitable to strenuous outdoor work in harsh conditions
    • Proficiency with ARC GIS, Tremble GPS, and basic office computer systems
    • Ability to read & write, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Knowledge of written communication formats and composition, including grammar and vocabulary. Ability to present to one or more people, including customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Ability to speak effectively with colleagues, supervisors, and customers/clients.
    • Computer skills sufficient to operate a laptop and cell phone, including sending and receiving emails, prepare and present PowerPoint Presentations, and learn Deltek Vision, SAP Concur, and CRM software.
    • Mathematical skills sufficient to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw or create, and interpret, bar graphs.
    • Reasoning ability to handle multiple and changing priorities concurrently. Ability to work with problems and deal with a variety of variables. Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to effectively communicate about products, services, and technical requirements to both the client/customer and employees within UES.
