UES is seeking an Entry-Level Geologist/Hydrogeologist to support a variety of water resource and environmental related projects.  The successful candidate will have opportunities to support interesting and challenging projects conducting field data collection, data management and analysis, and assisting with report preparation while learning and working under the direction of a Professional Geologist/Hydrogeologist.  This is an excellent opportunity for an entry level professional interested in working in a fast-paced consulting environment with ample room for professional growth.     

Job Responsibilities:

    • Work may include: field data collection and management, supporting hydrogeologic evaluations, well drilling and pumping tests, baseline hydrology monitoring, environmental monitoring, geologic evaluations, developing and following field sampling plans, sampling and measurements of soils, groundwater and surface water sampling, and conducting environmental assessments.
    • The position may also include exposure to other environmental services, including soil or groundwater assessment, remediation system operation and data collection, air quality compliance, stormwater management, and biological resource surveys, depending on the available workload and prior education and experience. 
    • The position is based in Reno, Nevada, and fieldwork may be required throughout the state and in neighboring states (CA, ID, UT, AZ, OR).

Required Qualifications:

    • BS in Hydrogeology, Geology, Geologic Engineering, or closely related field of study.
    • You must possess a valid driver’s license, have a clean driving record, and have the ability to travel to various worksite locations as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience and knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
    • Previous work experience is a plus.
    • Mechanical aptitude for setting up, troubleshooting, operating, and/or repairing field instrumentation and equipment is a plus.
    • Ability to work independently with little to no supervision under the direction and guidance of senior staff.
    • Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)      

Physical/Travel Requirements:

    • You must have the ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and various terrains.
    • You must be comfortable with working in isolated and remote areas.
    • You must have the ability to carry equipment while hiking to remote locations when inaccessible by vehicles.
    • You must be able to periodically lift up to 40 lbs.
