We are a research company pushing against the boundaries of biology, chemistry, engineering, and physics to developing groundbreaking cryopreservation technologies. Our transplant organ protocol will enable indefinite organ storage so every donated organ can save a life. Ultimately, whole-body reversible cryopreservation will let patients pause biological time until cures for fatal diseases exist. Candidates will join an ambitious founding team with infrastructure, engineering talent, and operational support beyond what’s possible in academia.
About The Role
We are seeking a Senior Scientist to join as a leader on our whole organ preservation team. You will have large domain of ownership and play a vital role in shaping the company's organ transplant research program. You will apply your expertise in organ perfusion, preservation, viability assessment, and transplant to make successful large organ cryopreservation a reality.
You will have the opportunity to collaborate with scientists and engineers across the company on variety of methods inspired by first principles of biology, physics, and chemistry. Creative scientific engagement is a requirement of the role, and new avenues for discovery and optimization are continuously supported.
Responsibilities
- Implement pig organ ex-vivo viability evaluation protocols, including perfusion, histology, omics, etc.
- Ability to comfortably execute familiar assay protocols as well as identifying and implementing unfamiliar protocols to diagnose damage
- Propose adjustments to cryopreservation protocol to optimize the health of organs
- Experience working with ex vivo kidney and / or heart perfusion and viability assessment is a plus
Qualifications
- You’ve completed a PhD in STEM, ideally in the field of organ preservation or transplant, or otherwise have significant (4+ years) experience working as a scientific leader in an industry context.
- You have demonstrated a passion for rapid problem solving and exploration of novel topics / protocols, demonstrated success working through hard problems.
- Desire to work in a laboratory setting to apply your expertise.
- You demonstrate agency, problem solving, passion for discovery, and a drive to push the boundaries of science through meaningful involvement in an ambitious project.

$145,000 - $180,000 a year
