About Until
Until is an early-stage startup developing a “pause button” for biology. Our goal is to transform how humanity interacts with interventional medicine through reversible cryopreservation, enabling medical hibernation, supporting deep-space exploration, and redefining our relationship with the future.
To achieve this, we’re assembling an interdisciplinary team of biologists, biochemists, applied physicists, engineers, and materials scientists to tackle challenges from the molecular level to full systems integration. We prioritize diversity of thought and value creative, first-principles approaches.
The Role:
We are seeking a Scientist or Senior Scientist (title commensurate with experience) to join our team. In this role, you will contribute to the design, execution, and analysis of high-throughput experiments across multiple biological scales, including cells, 3D in‑vitro models, and tissues.
Depending on experience, you may also lead projects, mentor junior team members, and take on greater responsibility for experimental design and strategy. This position requires a balance of technical expertise and creative problem-solving to uncover novel materials, explore biomaterial–biology interactions, and develop innovative biological mechanisms to enhance performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Use innovative approaches to discover and characterize new biomaterials and bio-interactions.
- Design and implement high-throughput screening (HTS) experiments at cellular, 3D in vitro model, and tissue levels.
- Develop and optimize advanced in vitro models of various organs.
- Analyze HTS data to identify promising materials and biological interactions that support project objectives.
- Apply genomics techniques such as GWAS, RNAseq, and FISH to inform and refine molecular discovery and in vitro models.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to translate experimental findings into practical solutions.
Preferred Experience
- Expertise in developing and maintaining advanced in vitro models.
- Experience with genomics tools (e.g., GWAS, RNA sequencing, FISH).
- Experience with liquid handling robots.
- Expertise using instrumentation techniques to investigate chemical compositions (e.g., DSC, HPLC, GC/LCMS, FPLC).
- (Senior Scientist level) Experience assessing drug pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics.
Who You Are
- 4+ years of industry experience or PhD/Postdoc training in Bioengineering, Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Neuroscience, Immunology, or a related field.
- You have a track record of scientific excellence and autonomy, with the ability to independently develop and carry out complex experiments.
- Ability to design and execute experiments; level of independence and complexity of projects will be commensurate with experience.
- You bring a collaborative mindset and value diverse perspectives.
What We Offer
- An opportunity to make an impact by working with some of the most talented experts from all across the world.
- An opportunity to grow. Team members who have an outsized impact are advanced rapidly.
- Excellent medical, dental, and vision insurance.
- Flexible time off + paid holidays.
- A generous stipend package for independent learning.
- A competitive compensation package (salary + equity)
- 401(k)
