Ursa Major’s team moves fast and does a lot with little. We are looking for a skilled, fast learning individual who will support our engine design efforts. This role will be part of the technical organization, responsible for engine top level assembly ownership.

Primary Responsibilities

    • Owning and maintaining top-level product configuration of liquid propellant rocket engines
    • Coordinating BOM level artifacts with production team
    • Identifying, implementing, and controlling design changes to released and fielded products
    • Root cause analysis of part discrepancies
    • Design modification of existing components to resolve limitations
    • Structural and Thermal analysis of assemblies and components using simplified as well as Finite Element Analysis (FEA) techniques.
    • Collaborating with production team to write, review, and update work instructions for assembly of engine components

Qualifications

    • US CITIZENSHIP OR PERMANENT RESIDENCY IS REQUIRED
    • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Master's is a plus)
    • Demonstrated proficiency with creating and maintaining medium or large assemblies using Computer Aided Design and Drawings using PTC Creo or similar
    • Experience with GD&T per ASME Y14.5
    • Working knowledge of and hands-on experience with fluid, mechanical, and electrical systems
    • Willingness to take ownership at the top assembly level of production
    • Desire to take ownership and help wherever needed on the team

Desirable Experience

    • Liquid propellant rocket engine design, test, or analysis
    • Specification and design of tooling and special test equipment
    • 5+ years using PTC Creo
