The Mission
Helping customers think less about utilities by providing them with an empowering, consistent digital experience that supports them through their time with us

You:

    • Are able to build and maintain trust with your fellow team members
    • Are pragmatic and understand the need to balance progress vs perfection
    • Are able to make decisions in a collaborative environment and know how to foster collaboration
    • Will be a tactician for the team who also will keep an eye on the strategic objectives. You’ll be responsible for ensuring the team meets their immediate goals (6-8 weeks horizon) and that they understand current project priorities and timelines.
    • Will steer the team towards having a good engineering culture: operational maturity, engineering and architectural quality, following and defining sustainable SDLC
    • Will be still hands-on, but expected to spend approximately up to 40% of your time on non-engineering tasks

Peak into the near future:

    • Improve customer onboarding experience: Improve the experience of new customers’ first 60 days by guiding them through the provisioning of their services and benefits, setting them up for future success
    • Clubhouse Mobile App Parity: Bring the mobile app to feature parity with the website with the intent to make it the #1 means for customers to manage their UW account
    • Contribution Framework: Work with fellow engineers across the technology teams to develop a contribution framework (not just tech) for enabling any UW software engineer to surface their features on the customer facing apps, making it possible for them to work on and deliver functionality end-to-end

The Team

    • 9 people strong fully cross functional team, including dedicated UX, Data and Product capabilities with balanced mix of FE, FS and BE engineers
    • Half the team is fully remote
    • Event driven architecture and microservices - and a legacy monolith to transform
    • Current stack: Kubernetes (multi-cloud), PHP, Golang, cockroachdb, GRPC, GraphQL, ReactJS and ReactNative
    • Agile and DevOps culture, and continuous delivery approach
    • In need of some (servant) leadership
