The Director of Talent Acquisition position is responsible for tracking, sourcing and filling all open and key positions at Valdes Architecture and Engineering Company. They will train and supervise the other members of the Recruiting staff and direct the overall execution and fulfillment of Valdes’ internal recruiting efforts to support Engineering Operations and Support staff.

Responsibilites

    • Responsible for developing and implementing all recruiting and staffing logistics
    • Develop and maintain the Valdes candidate database
    • Work with management to define strategic hires and culture and skill set fit with Valdes
    • Develop an ongoing program of seeking out and sourcing candidates that are not actively looking for work
    • Join and participate in engineering associations to gain network contacts and candidate contacts in the engineering industry
    • Develop ongoing relationships with college campus placement offices and coordinate and attend all college recruiting efforts
    • Develop online recruiting strategies and use other online job boards to connect our job openings with job boards that surf the net for candidates and direct them to our job openings (Such as Indeed.com, LinkedIn, CareerBuilder, Monster.com and College, Alumni and Engineering Association websites)
    • Develop relationships with Outside Recruiters and HR offices for companies in our industry to refer outplacement candidates to us when plants are downsizing or closing
    • Stay up to date on all company activities in our industry – clients and competition – so we can take advantage of picking up good candidates when there downsizing occurs within our industry or related industries
    • Handle confidential employee information with appropriate discretion and make job offers to candidates as required
    • Handle all confidential matters for President, SVP, VP’s, and Director of HR, as needed
    • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications

    • REQUIREMENTS
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Psychology or related field
    • 10+ Years of experience working in Recruiting and Human Resources
    • Must be able to work in the US now and in the future without sponsorship
    • Work out of our Lombard office with the ability to go to our Griffith, IN office as needed

    • Technical Competencies
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Keyboarding skills; Proficient in MS Office applications, ATS systems, and Internet Search Engines
    • Attention to detail is very important because mistakes in offer letters or references could cause major problems
    • Good at research and fact finding as this is needed to check out candidates or source resumes
    • Well-connected in our industry and related industries and has a knack for networking and making long term relationships with candidates and referral sources

    • Personable and able to work easily with others at all levels
    • Ability to handle difficult individuals and remain calm when employees or candidates are confrontational
    • Extroverted personality, able to initiate and follow through on assignments without any coaching
    • Strong tendency to read and respond to body language and verbal cues
    • Tenacious and has the creativity and determination to continue with even the most difficult assignments

    • Must be well organized and able to prioritize work
    • Ability to set and track goals
    • Ability to multi-task and work on more than one project at a time
    • Able to commit to and meet project deadlines, and driven to provide outstanding service to both external and internal customers
    • Takes ownership of work thru project completion
    • Must keep work area neat, clean and organized
