Responsible for supervising and coordinating the efforts of Project Teams reporting to him/her and the project staff to achieve client’s established project objectives. Interface with business development, client engineering representatives and other discipline engineers within the Valdes organization. May also be responsible for the Client Manager role for specific clients and be the primary point of contact and accountability for coordinating all projects with that client. Interfaces with client engineering representatives and other discipline engineers within the Valdes organization. Primary point of contact and accountability for ensuring projects meet client’s expectations. Responsible for leading the Valdes team and ensuring project completion within budget, schedule and conformance with specifications. Responsible for sign-off for the completed project and a final project report to close out the contract.

Responsibilities

    • Extensive project management experience with the capability and initiative to perform the following tasks while supervising/mentoring a staff and maintaining strong client relationships.
    • Participate in all required safety activities.
    • Promote safety in all aspects of the project.
    • Direct, coordinate, budget, scope and manage multi-discipline projects of any size.
    • Manage, coordinate, and administer a project from the conceptual stages through planning, engineering, procurement, construction, start-up and prime contract closeout.
    • Manage a portfolio of client projects with one or more Project Engineers or Project Managers assigned under her/him to support the execution of the portfolio.
    • Develop new client accounts and maintain existing business relationships with client counterparts and management team.
    • Review and approve invoices to the client, as well as manage estimates, schedules, and reports being sent to the client.
    • Assist Business Development and Client Manager in business related activities.
    • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

    • REQUIREMENTS
    • Bachelor of Science Degree in one of the engineering disciplines or equivalent experience
    • Professional Engineering (PE) license preferred
    • 15+ years of related experience in project engineering or project management, or equivalent experience in one of the engineering disciplines with cross training in project execution
    • Must have experience in the energy (e.g. electric power generation), or general heavy industrial sectors
    • Must be able to work in the US now and in the future without sponsorship
    • Technical Competencies
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Thorough knowledge of all engineering disciplines, plant operations within their sector and strong understanding of other the workflow from discipline to discipline for project completion
    • Leadership skills such as conflict resolution, risk evaluation, mentoring and steadiness
    • Ability to properly delegate and follow up with team to assure project is completed to client satisfaction on schedule and on budget
    • Creativeness in providing new solutions to problems
    • Responsible for Quality Control and possesses an eye for detail
    • Expertise in Microsoft Office software, Microsoft Project and Primavera are a plus
    • 5+ years’ experience supervising staff and managing projects from inception to completion including evaluating scope of work and assigning responsibilities
    • Professional registration desired

    • Physical Requirements
    • Office or computer work for 60% of the time. Must be available for evening and weekend emergency calls. Position may require periods of travel and on-site assignments. Duties will include the ability to push/pull, lift or carry approximately 20 pounds, and climb stairs and vertical ladders. Must be able to stand or walk for extended periods of time such as when performing walkdowns at client facilities.
