At Valdes Architecture and Engineering, we are seeking a qualified individual for a Design Engineer to work as a project team member to support transportation design projects for the Illinois Tollway, the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), and other clients in the Chicago metropolitan area.

Responsibilities

    • Candidate will work under a licensed engineer
    • Resolve engineering problems and tasks as they are assigned, with help from more experienced staff
    • Perform transportation engineering analyses and calculations
    • Develop engineering plans, specifications, and estimates (PS&E)
    • Preparation of reports and feasibility studies
    • Work as a part of a team to complete general transportation engineering services for state agencies, counties, and municipalities
    • Perform all other duties as assigned by Project Manager

Qualifications

    • REQUIREMENTS
    • 2+ years of experience working as a Civil Engineer
    • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
    • Engineer Intern Certification or Licensed Professional Engineer
    • Proficient in the use of Microstation and PowerGeopak/OpenRoads Designer (required)
    • Proficient in the use of AutoCAD Civil 3D (preferred)
    • Valid U.S. drivers license
    • Must be able to work in the US without sponsorship now or in the future

    • Comfortable approaching mentor with technical or business-related questions
    • Takes ownership of work thru project completion and keeps management properly informed on project issues

    • Strong time management skills and ability to multi-task and work on more than one project at a time with various priorities
